So im thinking of making an enclosure- 2 on the bottom, 2 on top rectangle. They would be side by side and ontop of one another. Id like to add wheels to them, sliding front doors, and made of melanine. (sp?) Ok, so I have a few questions and the main ones are about the light set up.
I want to have a tube light, however, id rather just get a 48 inch one and make it so it will go to both of the side by side enclosures located in the middle. I would make it so that the back panel of the tank could drop down so that I can change out the bulb and allow room for the bulb by making a cutout in the partion between the 2 tanks. That would mean 12 inches of the tank (given its a 36in long for each one) will not reach the end of the tank. Also, if I were to do this for both top AND bottom, Id need to place the basking bulb in the same area as all the others (where the bulb starts in the middle between the 2. If all the basking bulbs are located in one spot I know it would get quite warm there so I guess that would be another way to save on electricity by having lower wattage bulbs.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Concerns? Below is a rough diagram- B-basking bulb, ===== - uvb tube, l-seperation between the 2 enclosures
2 48in tube
4basking bulbs
Any suggestions on good thermostats? No idea how those work for these tanks and what exactly you need.
