I was wondering if anyone knew a safe substrate to breed crickets in. I know top soil is supposed to be the best, but I'm wondering what brands would be safe I need one that will be non toxic to the crickets and my beadie. I know there are other substrates out there and if you have any experience with them I'd love to hear it.
I guess my response wasn't clear enough. This thread is for substrate for breeding your dragons. Not feeders! You have to post in the "Feeders" section.
I use eco earth. Cheap and easy. I only use it for the egg laying tubs, I've found that using it (really any substrate) in the totes is just too hard to clean and sort.
You don't need a substrate in the cricket bin, just a smallish tupperware with a hole and egg crate for the female crickets to be able to climb through. They will jump out when their done laying, but you don't need a substrate in the rest of the bin, just your egg crates/paper towel rolls, etc and their food, etc.
Thanks guys ill give Eco earth a try. Also, I would use dubia but unfortunately they are illegal for me, and I have yet to find anyone that sells em due to that reason.
