So on top of being super hyperactive (see my last thread) our baby Stubbs isn't eating much. She'll have a couple of mealworms, maybe a darkling beetle or two every two or three days, and she'll eat maybe half the salad I put in for her. We last weighed her probably sometime in December or January, and she clocked in at a pretty healthy 356 grams or so. We noticed her little hips were getting a bit bony and weighed her the other day, and she's down to 337! We've tried all the food we can think of... mealworms, darkling beetles, BSFL, waxworms, dubia... turns her nose up at all of them (which is irritating, because we're breeding mealworms AND dubia to feed these little buggers, and none of them want any!) Half the time, when she does eat her bugs, she only eats them if we drop them on the floor while she's running around. I guess she likes to feel like she's foraging for food, or something. We're worried it might be because her MVB is getting old, it's been about 6 months, but I'm not sure that explains it. Her temps are all where they should be, she's not dehydrated (she'll sit in my GF's hands and drink from the sink when she's thirsty.) We have no idea what could be wrong. Any ideas?
That's not an unusual drop in weight when they are acting hyper. As long as she remains really active, just keep offering food and let her take what she wants. This is generally a seasonal behavior and she will return to normal after a while and her appetite should return, putting the weight right back on.
