Hi all, my baby beardy Boris is a happy and healthy dragon, BUT, Recently put a background in his viv andd stress mark keep coming and going. Getting a bit worried to be honest. He looks healthy, eats everything I give him - locusts and crickets on insect day and grated cucumber and salad on veg day. Basking spot is 100 degrees and cold spot 86 degrees. I mist him twice a day. And has an Arcadia uvb tube, so everything is there to give him a healthy life. The only thing is stress mark come up on his belly every now and then and then they just go away. Is this something to be worried about? What do I do? Thanks!!
This should not be an issue. Stress marks is a very misleading name since they usually aren't attributed to stress. It is common for them to simple be darker to allow more absorption of heat. It is however possible that your background being a picture of an open plain, may be stressing him out. Temporarily try a solid color background and see what happens.
Define salad for me please, I know cucumber is supposed to only be an occasional so I would like to know what else is in there.
Those aren't very good as staples but are ok occasionally. Try feeding him more greens (particularly collard greens are great), green beans, papaya, mango, squash, and/or sweet potato. Those are all good day to day. http://blackninjakitty.com/herps/care/troystuttlegreeniglist.htm
This is the chart I find easiest to read and it gives a pretty in depth list of foods.
