My bearded dragon Gamma, is a teen beardie. For the longest time (past few months) he decided he doesn't want any food (unless it was wax worms and I refused those). Well, finally he has decided to start eating again this summer but the only thing he will eat are meal worms. I have been giving in because he has put some weight back on and is looking good.
The weird thing is that even when he wasn't eating he had a ton of energy. I think having foster dragons in the house made him start eating again.
He is in a 40 gallon with a Mercury Vapor Bulb, 75 watt basking light, and a normal house bulb. Temps are in the mid 90s. (We have air conditioning). He has a dinosaur background (he had the eating problem before he got that background) and I have the sides blocked so he can't see his reflection. He gets his baths every other day and everyday I put his nose under the sink and sometimes he will drink from there.
He refuses crickets, roaches, nightcrawlers, calci worms, pretty much everything. He likes kale though, but he isn't supposed to have that very often.
I thought mealworms were healthy but I checked beautiful dragons nutrition and it said feed rarely. Plus now his poop smells awful and he is started to kind of have diarrhea.
He won't touch the phoenix worms. I wish he did though. I feel like he doesn't see them because they are so small. He will eat superworms (of course on the also don't feed often part).
I haven't tried hornworms. I am starting to think I should. I just worry because they are expensive and then if he doesn't eat it. I just started a colony of mealworms for him as well. But I think I can raise a colony of hornworms too if he does eat them.
Hi. All of mt 3 dragons love hornworms. My oldest loves to sneak up on them and shakes it around and chows like she hasnt eaten in days. Even tho I give them roaches. I don't know how easy they are to raise. I order mine either mulberryfarms or lindasgonebuggie.
