hey all,
so we've had emmy (formally known as yoshi) for 2 months and she still puffs her beard at me, turning half of it black, and gapes her mouth at me when I try to hold her. I hate to be a whiner but I figured she would've gotten used to me by now. I worm=k second shift so I hate to take her out at night 4 hours after she's gone to sleep so I try to handle her for a bit each morning, but I hate to be stressing her out so much I rotate hankies in there that I've had under my pillow so that it smells like me in her cage and I have feed her, her favorite fruits and veggies, but I'm at a loss and fell like I'm doing this
anyone have any advice to help me come up with ways to get her to trust my more?
Try to just put your hand in there with her without picking her up and then just try petting her. Plus how are you picking her up? Try scooping her from underneath.
Just give her some time. Eventually she will warm up to you. Yaddle was the same way. I had to work with her a lot, she was stubborn, but eventually the trust was built between the two of us and now she is a cuddle bug that always wants to be held
good to know mine isn't the only stubborn one out there. I've been scooping her up and petting her in the cage (which she seems to dislike) and have even tried the "wrapping in a blankie trick", guess I just need to learn patience

Yaddle was stubborn too. When she was little she jumped out of my hands 3 times when I was holding her, it was a good thing I was sitting down while she did this. Once she ran behind a chair to get away  When Midna was the same age she loved being held, she was the perfect baby. Midna is my first beardie so I expect Yaddle to be the same way. Nope, I was wrong, lol.
When they get older and bigger they seem to get lazier. So don't give up. When she gets bigger she'll get mellow. The young ones have all that energy, lol
thanks so much for the reassurance! after losing my gecko last year I wanted a more touchable lizard and came here and read all these things about beardies being cuddle bugs, and I'm being paranoid that Emmy is always going to be a brat running away when I try to hold her. I'll just keep at it and hopefully she will start to enjoy being around me
