Hi,
I want to start breeding crickets. I selected 15 females and 3 males to start with, placed them in a big, separate container with lots of food, water and nesting bin filled with soil. Temperatures are around 26-32 C. The problem is, my males do not chirp at all. I suspect that they are house crickets but are a bit darker. http://imgur.com/niBupZh
Breeding crickets is pretty easy and they reproduce pretty fast. I bought 100 from the pet store and started with that and had thousands within a few months. Crickets are problematic, though. They are noisy, stink, prone to escape and cannibalistic.
You should really consider breeding Dubia roaches. They are much more nutritious than crickets and make no sound, have no smell, are less likely to escape and invade your house.
Check this forum for all the information you need for breeding them.
I no longer breed crickets and have been breeding Dubias for about 9 months now and I will never go back to crickets.
