Spyro is doing really well and growing quite a bit! She seems healthy overall but lately she has been drinking more than normal! I always give her water in a shallow dish in her terrarium and I give her a bath every day but she never drinks! Last time I gave her a bath she dunked her head in the water and started drinking like crazy and then yesterday I gave her some fresh water and wiggled my finger in it and she started drinking again. I know they need a constant source of water but her interest happened kind of suddenly.. I was just wondering if this is normal? Did she not realize she had water until recently? Is something going on where she is extra thirsty? She has shed 2 times in two weeks.. Could that lead to being thirstier? I appreciate any thoughts!
They don't always acknowledge standing water. As long as her poops/urate don't look dried out and she is getting plenty of gutloaded bugs and fresh veges I wouldn't worry too much. She may just want a bit extra which is fine. Since she seems to want a bit extra I'd offer it but not a lot at once. Try dropping a bit on her nose and see if she licks it up. You could offer water to her a little bit a few times a day and that will give her plenty of extra water without her overdoing it with too much at once.
Thank you! Is there any kind of like beardie fountain I could get so that the water is moving? He poop seems fine and her skin isn't wrinkled or anything so I don't think she is dehydrated.. I just thought it was odd she showed interest all of the sudden..
Yeah there is. I forget where the thread is now but it's essentially a pop bottle cut in half, suspended from the ceiling with a small pin prick in the cap which causes water to drip slowly into the water dish. There is another more elaborate setup with aquarium pumps too.
