Spoiled dragon

I’ve had my dragon for almost 2 years now. When I got her I was working at petco. She had to go to vet with several other dragons for tail rot. They found she had a broken leg. Back leg was amputated. She’s on a 40 gallon tank. I prob feed her to many bugs. I’m one of those people who feel bad lol. She is little fat and refuses to eat salad. I cut her bok choy fresh and will do collard greens and turnip greens. I hand feed her with tweezers. She’s very spoiled. But she needs to eat salad more but won’t

Stop feeding her bugs completely until she starts eating her salad. Offer a salad every day. When she gets hungry enough she will eat her salad. If she isn't, she's not hungry. They really can go long stints without food. She won't let herself starve to death assuming she is generally healthy and active otherwise.

I understand feeling bad about it. But change your perspective. Feel bad that if you don't make this change with her, her lifespan will be cut short drastically.

Thank you for responding. I know I’m the problem with her not eating salad. I took her to vet once about 8 months ago just to have her checked. Can I send pics of her to you? I’m not sure her weight. My boyfriend says she’s fat lol. Unfortunately vet isn’t cheap just to have her weighed.

Most of us use the digital kitchen scales to get their weight. You can pick on up at Walmart for about 20 bucks, much better than a trip to the vet 😉😁

That's what I also use. With a box on top - actually his carrier - so he won't disturb the scale with his movements. (My Taco is very tame, but also very much running around.)
I’m feeding her bok choy currently. Is that ok?
Yes.

Yes.
She’s in a 40 gallon. I work a lot so don’t take her out much. She sleeps a lot. Idk if bored. And also I do buy fresh salad for her but goes bad sooner than she eats. Is this ok to get? Or what’s best thing to do

Thank you for rescuing her, these beardies have us wrapped around their fingers but health first. I agree with all of the previous comments. It'll be worth it in the long run.

Does her habit look ok? She’s been eating her salad. She’s been more active since cutting bugs down. She’s mad lol

Looks good 👍
You'll need a bigger one soon though. The 40's are small for an adult. 🙂

Thank for helping. How soon and how big do I need to go? She’s been more active since cutting bugs down lol. She runs through her salad. Makes a mess lol

When would you suggest upgrading? Clapton still seems to have plenty of room in the 40gallon. He's only one year old. Not sure when to expert a growth spurt? He just gets bigger everyday, little by little.

a poem by AHBD (THANK YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE IT!)

Sir Henry the dragon
Looking for his dragon girl
Ventures out in to the wide world
His hopes are up but as you can see
There is no dragon girl for Sir Henry
A light bulb goes off and he takes mom aside
Could you perchance get me a mail order bride ?

Hi there a little update we went from a 50 watt heat lamp to a 100 watt basking halogen heat lamp hahaha I saw some comments about it being so close so I made sure to put it a ruler away from her
Has anyone seen this before? Something in the corner of his mouth
Luna is thriving
