Two portraits:

This is Taco after finishing his shed.
In the meanwhile, he's gotten even spikier. And the dark base on the largest spikes where his beard begins adds an amazing extra depth :)

(Today started like one of his typical "cave days": Awake, looking around curiously, but doesn't come out. So I was surprised to find him wandering around at 3pm! Just took him out for about 10 minutes and then back under the basking lamp to heat up more.)

He is very handsome 😍 I love spikey beardies, that's why Dunner is my favorite morph 😀

Yes, I also love this rugged look also very much :)
And there's a lot to cuddle - all those spikes and folds :D (He likes that.) Like moving around those spikes that are on soft skin, the big one where the beard begins. It doesn't come out as much in this photo as it's in reality, but his beard is now usually bright orange (with black at the base of the spikes).

Taco has a very beautiful color. :D I like that his scales are dark with white edges, especially on his arms.

Yes, they are always like this - it's not shed.
As I love details and structures very much, I can spend "hours" to look at the patterns on the scales.
He also has, on his neck shield, one spike that is sand-colored but with a bright orange spot. Like somebody painted on a spot with an orange fineliner :D

There is something else I call freckles (and it's funny as my husband has a lot of freckles):
The dark dots on top of his head that only disappear when he's heated up very much. Then the top of his head gets a uniform beige sand color. Otherweise: sand color with dark freckles. (In the two pictures here, he has those spots.)
I like it that both version look like "no way the other version can also exist" :D

I agree. Sinatra is like that also. He looks very much like 2 different beardies depending on mood/temp.

Mine:
a) uniform sandy orange over most of his body including head, orange beard and "blue" stripes, appears to be larger
vs.
b) dull colors, lots of spots, spots and stripes* on the head, bands on the tail very pronounce,d appears to be spikier and smaller

*the species name for pogona vitticeps in German in "Streifenköpfige Bartagame" meaning "stripe-headed bearded dragon/ agama"

@Chris.

Here is an example - looks so much different!
It takes about 40 - 50 minutes from like in the photos at the beginning of this thread to this.
Are you sure he isn't a Dunner? If I zoom in it looks like he might have the round white scales of a Dunner. Are the scales on his belly uniform? If they are haphazard he's a Dunner, also they scales under his chin.
Either way he is a beautiful beardie 🙂

I do not know, he was sold to me as a "standard" (the reptile store sometimes sells different colors (but not morphs), and at a reptile show I saw a leatherback; but I doubt they are so much into genetics here, and might sell any dragon that is not looking very much different as "standard").
I looked for a belly picture, these are the best I have, but I can easily take one directly from his underside.

Does this look like a healthy beardie

Aww your profile picture is precious ❤️‍🩹
Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
cookie event at my library today, quite fun! Made some bracelets for my comrades too, to give them at church in the morning. Got a busy day tomorrow even though I’m off work… i go back on tuesday so atleast I’ll have 2 days off to rewind….then back to hell lol
