Hello,

Sorry Honey may have endometriosis. I have not personally dealt with that type of issue in
reptiles but I agree spaying would most likely fix the problem. I am glad that she doesn't have
any follicles or eggs developing them, great news! Since her organs may not have developed
properly that is probably responsible for the uterus problems.
That is very helpful the vet is working with you on payments, etc.
Let us know how she is doing.

Hi,thank you for the reply!
She’s still eating only giving her greens and had some water this morning as well, she’s had a black beard since she woke up which got worse after meds and still has one! Tail tip comes and goes black. She’s on pain meds and antibiotics,it’s hard to see her in pain if I’m being honest. My vet wants to wait until next Thursday to operate so the meds can start to work but I am worried she’s getting worse.Could the meds be making her feeling worse as well? She still goes to the bathroom every morning but for the past couple of days struggles and only passes a small amount,I also think it hurts her to go to the bathroom as this is when she will start glass surfing and go darker.

I am worrying a lot that postponing surgery till next week is not the right choice but do not want to push her if she’s just upset more because of the meds.
She will have a black beard until bed time then snuggles in her blankie and it goes, the minute she’s awake it’s back. It’s actually making me feel unwell with the stress,I just want to make the best decision for her.
Any thoughts would be really appreciated! I’m trying to stay positive but it’s very difficult when every time I go into my room she’s either at the glass with a black beard or laying on her rock with one.

Sorry to reply again before you’ve had a chance to read the first one but I’m a worried about honey. She has a slight black beard when she gets up but after her medications it’s very black and so is her tail.It stays like this for the rest of the day until about an hour before bed.I rang vets up yesterday and my vet said she wanted to give her more time but it’s been 3 days of antibiotics and a black beard and tail after that is persisting through the day.I am going out later to get a probiotic if anyone has any suggestions? I’ve seen some about soy yogurt if anyone has suggestions as well.
Im worried that this is a time sensitive issue that honey has and waiting isn’t going to be the right decision.
Add on- rang the vets again and my vet is calling me tomorrow but now sure when as she’s in ops.The receptions mentioned that the enrocare can taste awful for them and suggested diluting in,im assuming it’s just the same as normal but after getting dose in syringe you then add the water into the same syringe. She has aspirated once before and I do worry about it but can do it diluted if needed and just do it very slowly. Thank you again!

Hello,

How is she doing, still blackbearding?
It sounds like the enrocare is bothering her some. Yes, you can try some non dairy organic soy
yogurt, or non dairy acidophiliz for her in case her tummy is bothering her. Definitely go slowly with
getting the oral fluids into her so she doesn't aspirate again.
When does the vet think you may need to get her in for surgery?

Hi,
Yes still black bearding will go down about an hour before bed but other than that it’s always there as well as her tail.I’ve been diluting the enrocare which seems to help but she still isn’t very happy. The vet said about next Thursday but I don’t know if it’s good to wait that long.Honey can’t pass bowl movements anymore, she tried and nothing comes out, this has happened a few times since yesterday.I am worried about her prolapsing and am waiting for a call from her vet.
She’s still eating but not as eager for food.I’m not sure what to do,shes always upset and seems to be in a lot of pain even with the pain meds :(

Hi,
I spoke to the vet and she has given me some lactolose (think that’s the name, its a laxative) and another med called emeprid.Have you had any experience with emeprid, from what I can see online it’s to help her stomach.I’m giving her the first dose tomorrow, she’ll be on 4 separate meds and I’m a bit worried about her feeling rough because of the meds.Is there anything you would advise that could help her feel a bit better with the meds? Any probiotics or anything that would help settle her belly? Thank you for the replies and help it means a lot!

Hello,

Oh no, it sounds like she definitely is going to need some surgery here pretty soon.
Lactulose is widely used & is safe so it should be pretty effective for her. Let us know how
she does on it, but she should be just fine.
That is a lot of meds for her to be on, I agree. Probiotics could be helpful & might aid her little
tummy. You can try some non dairy organic soy yogurt (flavored or non flavored) or some non
dairy acidophiliz either one.
Keep us posted on Honey!

Hi,
I have a few updates on honey. My vet doesn’t think that a spay will resolve the issue, she also feels as though we’d be putting honey through too much with the recovery. She’s been back to the vets yesterday and we had a look on her scan, again there were no eggs or follicles and her uterus was a weird thickness. My vet has said to bring her back in Tuesday and we will discuss what to do next.Unfortunately she thinks honey may be having issues due to her deformities from previous home and lack of care, honey can’t poo and is struggling and nearly prolapsing. She’s on lactose and painkillers but have stopped with the antibiotics for now.If she prolapses or isn’t looking better I think we may have to look into ending things,I am really trying to give her the best but she still seems really upset and distressed.

I love her more than I can explain and am very hurt by everything that’s happened,I knew when I brought her we would have issues but knowing never makes it any easier on the heart.I’ll be giving her a bath soon and trying to relax her a little bit, she’s getting loads of cuddles and I’m trying to make her as comfortable as possible.
I’m praying that she feels better and makes a recovery soon,I believe that she is a strong little bean and can do it.I don’t want to make the wrong decision but my vet has said if she is hurting because of her condition (mbd) she’ll always be in pain to some extent.I don’t want that and wouldn’t want her to be hurting or need pain meds for the rest of her life.I wish I could’ve given a happier update.Thank you again for the help.

I am so sorry to hear that, we are all still pulling for her. Hopfully the new meds will help her with the bowl movement. She is very lucky to have you to love her. They deserve so much better than what most people who get them provide. But at least she has love now

Hello,

Oh poor girl, sorry she is still having some trouble! So they don't really want to spay her due to the
internal issues. I can understand that. At least she doesn't have any eggs or developing follicles.
The metabolic bone disease has probably weakened her making it more difficult for her to recover.
Remind me again, is she on a liquid calcium right now? Since she is off of the pain medication, you
could consider getting her on serrapeptase to help manage pain & it is all natural so you can have her
on it long term, without any side effects.
How is she doing today?

Thank you so much, she’s actually doing better with pooing. It still causes pain but she’s doing regular sized poos, occasionally it is small again but for 2 days she’s been having good sized poos so it’s a good bit of news. She will always be loved regardless of if she’s still here with us,just makes my blood boil that people let them get into such bad condition. She deserves to be able to walk properly and eat unaided but she’s loved for who she is and has the best quality life she can have with her condition.I’m very proud of her.Thank you again for the kind words.

The vet said she feels she won’t survive the anaesthesia and even if she did the recovery would be very hard. She also doesn’t want to do it as she’s not 100% sure that is the issue and will actually help the problem but make it worse. She’s worried that due to her mbd she has defects that would be extremely hard if not impossible to undo/fix.
She’s still on meloxicam but off the antibiotics, they seemed to make her feel worse she would black beard all day. She’s not on liquid calcium currently but could get her on it if needed.
Over the weekend she seemed to get worse,Saturday I wasn’t sure if she’d wake up.Sunday and today she seems a bit better, the black beard comes and goes but not constant and the glass surfing is down to about 2 times a day with about 5-10 minutes of glass surfing.
One other thing I’ve noticed is since she’s start passing bigger poos again they contain a normal urate and some darker coloured little balls/nuggets? They’re a weird shape, fairly small and soft.Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hello,

I totally understand, anesthesia is hard enough on ones that are without health problems but with
dragons that have existing issues it is very stressful.
It might be a good idea to get her on liquid calcium for her metabolic bone disease to help out for
her bone mass & strength. I am glad to hear she seems to be feeling better. Antibiotics are harsh
on their system & tend to dehydrate them. They may have been causing the black beard. The
meloxicam might wreak havoc on her system too over time so keep an eye on that also.
That is an odd sounding stool. How big are the balls, etc, they wouldn't be eggs that were undeveloped
would they? Or if she has been impacted, there could be matter passing though too.

Hi,
Unfortunately honey doesn’t seem very good. She doesn’t want to move and has her eyes mainly half shut. She did have some rocket earlier which she seemed to enjoy but seems more lethargic. She just looks really tired and fed up if I’m being honest, her chest/belly looks bloated and she seems like she struggles to breathe sometimes and keeps jolting every now and then with her belly.I’m really hoping she perks up but if she is ready to go I hope she goes in her sleep or at least at home where she knows she’s safe.

The lumps were small and misshapen a bit,not very big about the size of one of the little millions sweets maybe a bit bigger. It’s just all really upsetting,I keep telling her how much I love her and how beautiful she is and she’ll look back at me with her little eyes but she looks so tired.
Thank you for all of the help and support from you and everyone. The day I got her I didn’t think she’d survive the night but she proved me wrong and I’m so grateful that she did.

Poor Honey, has she been on the meds. for a couple weeks now , the Metacam, Lactulose and antibiotic ? If so I'd stop those immediately since they can both cause stomach + other problems. To help a beardie to poo you can use baby food squash or sweet potato or non spiced canned pumpkin. You can also give a little bit of the raw honey mixed with lukewarm water. It's soothing to the stomach and also helps constipation.

Her now constant black beard may be from the meds. [ since that started with the vet visit ] and the stress itself can become the real health problem now. You've done really well helping her for the condition she's in so just try to give her the natural stuff I mentioned.

Thank you! She’s still on meloxicam and lactulose, since stopping the antibiotics she’s seemed less upset.I’m trying to cut the painkillers down but she struggles with the pain and the same with the laxatives she struggles to poo without them but I will try the natural things you’ve suggested. She seems fairly tired and lethargic where as before she seemed alert,I’ll be giving her a bath before bed to try to relax her belly a little bit,I just feel bad for her having to go through all of this.Thank you for the reply and suggestions!

is my bearded dragons left side supposed to be hard, it’s right above its left leg in the back, it’s kind of hard? i feed it insects and greens. not sure if it’s normal or not? i can post pictures.
His first vet visit went well! Abelardo Texas looks good physically according to his new Dr.
Unfortunately, on the fecal it showed that he has Coccidia. Not a surprise honestly... he has been having diarrhea since I got him. I got Albon, F10, and a steam cleaner on hand.
I'm kinda freaked out, I heard coccidia is a beast to get rid of. Wish me luck! 😭
Sorry didn’t mean to post the last post was an accident, but I do have a question I have a 7 month old dragon, her name is Smaug and she will not eat her salad I have tried everything that I can, just wondering if anyone can help me because I’m stuck and I know that she should probably be eating them by now! If anyone can give me ideas that would be great!
