My genius bearded dragon ran every day non stop to the point of getting a sore on her foot. Yesterday I noticed it bulged out, today I noticed I can pull it without her flinching an inch. So I pulled it out and put neosporin on it. What else can I do?
Her set up: 40 gal, reptisun 10.0 ;24 inch, tile Substrate, 2 branches, a rock cave (petsmart one) (which I'm pulling out till her ankle heals), 103-105 basking (waiting for 75 watt to come in)
And now for some pics
And here's what I pulled off (it was hanging on by a scale)
I'd keep towels down over the tile so the sore won't get so irritated. Maybe try to wrap the wound but it might be difficult considering where it is.
As long as it stays clean, it should heal fine.
Soak it in betadine diluted in water (should look like weak tea) once or twice a day, and apply some regular neosporin (not the pain killing kind). That should help it heal just fine. Doesn't look too bad!
Thanks guys! Ill look into getting betadine tonight and figure out if I can wrap it. It would help if she didnt run through her poo every morning before I wake up
Well I work at a theater so when I come home it's two am and if I open I'm up at 730 am. So evening shifts I do like to sleep in and morning shifts I'm up pretty early. There's just no winning with bandit she's a brat haha
Timer lights 8-8. She wakes up with the sun sometimes and wakes me up. Sometimes she'll sleep till 8, sometimes she wakes me up at 6-7. It all ranges. I have my window covered with a sheet to block light and she still manages to wake up early occasionally.
So my guess is she's signalling that she needs to poop, or that she needs to get out for exercise. How often do you let her run around outside the tank?
When she's out she doesn't move and she usually poops around 7-8 am.
If I take her out she'll move maybe a foot and then head back to the direction of her tank. She's only happy when I put her in the window. I can walk away and come back 5 hours later and she'll still be in the same spot at the window. (I've done that experiment for 3 hours)
I'd be too scared to put her in deeper water. She's pretty dumb lol and I mean that in the nicest way possible. She trusts too much she'd probably sink to the bottom or have a spazz attack.
