Hello i am about to pick up a baby beardie this weekend at the pomona reptile expo and i wanted to know for anyone whos already had them what bulb would be better for him ive never had any expirience with MVB so this is new to me thank you
I'd go with the PowerSun over the Solar Glo based on testing it has a wider beam which I like. The 100w should be mounted about 8-12'' above the basking area for optimal UVB output and the 160w should be mounted about 11-15'' above the basking area. You may need supplemental lighting (halogen flood light or CHE/heat projector) to achieve proper heat gradients across the tank when you have the MVB set at those heights (it depends on the setup and your readings). That's the downside of using the all-in-one model - the heat and UVB can't be controlled individually with the one light.
It really depends on your setup and preferences. I like using a T5 tube because I can set that at appropriate height and then control the heat light independently. I use a MVB as one of the portable basking lights in my living room to provide some UVB when my guys is roaming about the house.
I have a 40gal breeder hes going to be going in and have a 100w zoomeds basking light all these lights yu have to choose from make it hard lol iwas planin on going with the flourecent twist bulbs but i heard those could possibly harm your beardie
The compacts don't have much range. I'd stick with a tube or MVB. The 100w PowerSun should work well. I'd go with the 160 if you put it on top of mesh which reduces some of the UVB output unless you plan on building the basking area up pretty high. A 22'' T5 would work too.
