So, a 3D printer is on its way.....

Definitely going to make some Alex accessories (I'll be mindful of filament compositions)
One thing I want to try to do is a bowl that roaches can't climb out of. There are a lot of climbing wall ones, but she's a picky eater and needs her veggies and greens. She's fine with blueberries lol
Another I was thinking was a sturdy platform climber.
Those are more advanced projects of course. I'll be starting with organizing my tools, accessories for the printer, aquarium stuff. But just gathering ideas, if anyone makes anything themselves and such.

Any smooth glass bowl with straight sides at least an inch tall on the inside should contain the roaches. But a customized bowl would definitely be better. You could make one that goes aesthetically with the habitat.
What I'm using are the lids of those "American candles in a jar". They have a plastic part which I pull off, and then I clean the remaining glass completely with rubbing alcohol. Any traces of scents or wax are then gone.
It, however, often has a curved upper part (then the bottom if used as a bowl). I have no problem with it as I embed it into the sand, but otherwise maybe put some burrowing clay or a wooden holder around it to prevent it from wobbling around when the dragon grabs their food.

@BPSabelhaus
What I'd like to know from my experience with 3D printing (despite I would totally be the person for owning one, I don't want to buy a 3D printer as they are ridiculously expensive here, but I've used one several times at my workplace):
As the item is then plastic with a slightly rough texture, will you sand this very smoothly to prevent the insects from climbing it? Or adding any kind of food-safe/ pet-safe glaze to smoothen it out?

Not sure to be honest. I'll need to work with the material for awhile and see. Was thinking if it's smooth enough with a little oil (Again, a lot of research, olive, fish etc...) Going to make dog and cat toys first:)

I use a glass bowl (just smooth glass, not strucured), and they can't get out. I just have to make sure that nothing is hanging into the bowl, i.e., I don't have it too close to a plant, as otherwise a leaf might hang into the bowl and they get out.
Dubias ecaped from the 2-part wormfeeder dishes, as there is a gap about 1.5 cm from the bottom, between the lower and upper part of the bowl. That's enough for bigger roaches to reach up and squeeze through.
But no, from a glass bowl with nothing hanging in, none escapes.

I don't have any escapes from a glass bowl either. But sometimes these sly ones build a pyramid and climb over the edge of the bowl. I mean that one sits near the edge of the bowl, and the other climbs on its back and reaches the edge. :ROFLMAO:

I have also observed this; also they climb on food I leave in the bowl. For exactly this reason I have a deep glass bowl. (I use the lids of "candles in a glass"; first had a shallower one which I had selected as it has a flat bottom, but it was not high enough.) Dragon's tongue is long enough for reaching down there :D

As I love to tinker, I like that :) If they were cheaper here, I would have one, too :)

(All kind of electronics here is about a factor of 2 - 3 times more expensive plus the choices very limited, and then wages are about 1/2 of what's in Europe or US, so ... desire is one thing, rationality another ;) )

Making a mushroom lamp :) It came with a lamp kit and instructions for a boring lamp print. I found something cooler that uses the kit :)

That's two pieces, the base is printing then 3 hours for the cap :)

Been waiting for printers like this for years. In the automotive world, small plastic brackets can create so many problems with delays in body work. Been out of the industry awhile, I wonder if they're making inroads. Sell a one time use file and the manufacturer is happy.

Oh now there is a stellar idea!!!
I don't do boby work, but I am a mechanic. Those @#&^%$#%&& clips are sometimes impossible to get. And if you can sometimes they are so expensive.... zip ties it is lol.

a poem by AHBD (THANK YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE IT!)

Sir Henry the dragon
Looking for his dragon girl
Ventures out in to the wide world
His hopes are up but as you can see
There is no dragon girl for Sir Henry
A light bulb goes off and he takes mom aside
Could you perchance get me a mail order bride ?
