Sleeping when holding

My baby beardie Nessie almost ALWAYS falls asleep when I hold him. He is very active normally, hear and light set up are great. He HATES to be put down. But almost immediately after picking him up he will wander over my shoulders then is out like a light. Is this normal?

It is different with every beardie, 2 of mine don't do that but one does, so i would say it's at least not abnormal

That's adorable! If he's fine otherwise maybe he just likes sleeping on your shoulder Mine falls asleep fast when I pet his back. So interesting how they develop their own preferences in captivity.

Yep he is perfectly fine and active during the day he even plays w the balls in his tank. Just as soon as I pick him up, he goes to sleep. He also doesn’t like ppl trying to take him from me. He runs back over to my shoulder.

Yes we were very lucky when we got this little guy. He has been very social since we brought him home. His tank also sits in the living room so I am talking to him almost constant throughout the day, bc it is so cute to watch him tilt his head every time he hears my voice.

Them being engaging like that is part of their charm. I love when i say something to mine they don't agree with and they go from being engaging to instant stink eye lol.
