Hello everybody, about time I make an account here I've been "stealing" information from the community for months now, I just had a quick question about beardies who sleep with a blanket. My beardie very recently got more comfortable with me than I could have ever imagined including her climbing my shirt and cuddling against my neck while licking me a few times to make sure it was okay (or that's the way I took it), and now she's using a blanket on my bed for the first time and actually sleeping there, I don't plan on leaving her there all night she will go back in the viv for fear of crushing her in my sleep, however, her head is completely covered and her nose seems to be tucked against the fabric so I'm worried if suffocation is a possibilty? I know I'm probably over thinking it and she would most likely move if she couldn't breathe but seeing as how this is me and her both first time with the blanket I just wanted some reassurance I guess, sorry for the super long post I tend to ramble a bit! Thanks to all who reply!
She will be quite alright sleeping in a blankie. If she needs to breathe better she can & will move her head out from under the layer of blanket, etc if she needs to. I have had dragons for years who are spoiled that sleep in blankies too & never had a problem with that.
I guess she loves her blankie, huh? :love5:
I had similar concerns when I first got my beardie so when I tucked him in at night, I would always fold over the blanket so that his head was free...but then I'd wake up in the morning and see that he burrowed all the way underneath anyway! So now I don't fold over the blanket and he does just fine.
My Poe climbs up on the couch and between the cushions and is fine.
She all so likes to jump in the laundry basket and burrow to the bottom.
Beardies in the wild love to sleep in nooks and crannies just for security reasons.
And yes, if your Beardie can't breath they will move to get in a better position. (Poet sleeps in bed with me almost every night under the covers.)
