I get up at 5 AM and get home at 1. I work on school until 10, maybe 11. His tank his in my office where I do school work. (the only place I can put em in the smaller apartment).
My question is this, I hear you want his lights on 12 hrs and off 12 hrs. I have to feed em in the morning or else he will go until 1 possibly 3 without food, and I need to do homework at night but wish I didn't have to interrupt his sleep, because he stays awake and wants to see what i'm doing.
If his lights are on from 5AM to 11PM is this too much? He has shade, a cool spot, two hiding areas, and more. OR should I set a timer and have his light on for 12 hrs and off for 12 hrs and have him get used to getting up at 5am and the lights turnning off at 5pm while a do homework?
Tank/Beardie: 40 Gal Br, 105 degree basking, 72 degree cool side, mercury bulb for UVB and UVA, night time ceramic heat for 100 hot side and 70 cool side at night, humidity is steady at 30 percent but trying to hit 35, collard greens, dusted crickets, dusted dubia, poos once to twice a day(normal looking), dusted multivitamins twice a week, handle him at least once a day for 20 min, good appetite, fairly active and attentive.
Its best if they have a 14 hour period of light during the day, so try to lower that by 4 hours less.
12 hours of light would be the smallest amount a bearded dragon that is burmating or your trying to burmate should have. Or if you just want to replicate the winter months for an adult dragon.
It may be best to turn lights on at 5 AM and then off at 7 or 8 PM.
To not disturb his sleep you could throw a blanket over his enclosure after removing the lights from it so it doesn't catch on fire if it somehow turns on.
What brand is your MVB? Some brands are better than others.

<<<< 12 hour is WAY TOO SHORT a photoperiod for a bearded dragon.
Set his lights on a timer to come on at 5am and turn off at 9pm , this gives 16 hrs as his photo period. My gang have a their lights on 6am and they go off at 10pm and have had that all their lives and are fine.

<<<< 30% RH is fine .... many of us who are living in the tropics and subtropics and in coastal areas are pushing to see under 50% RH and our dragons are fine.
