This may be a silly question. I just moved my bearded dragon from my house to my classroom. I have put construction paper up on the sides of the tank to help him adapt and not be so scared (he has been hiding in his cave for days). I first put black paper, but found the temperature of the tank was going up. I switched to white. Is this okay, everywhere I read, they say black paper, but I am worried about the temps, is white okay or to reflective?
Thanks.
You could use any kind of paper as long as the temps stay in check. Some people use newspaper, some use printed photos (that's what I have up as my background). There's no hard and fast rule that I know of.
Thank you cooperdragon. When I put up black the temps rose, so thought white would be better, but not sure about light reflection.
Can I ask you, does vibration bother bearded dragons? My bearded dragon's tank is in the centre of the pod, on an island in the middle of two classrooms. The kids do move by it a lot, was wondering if he can feel the vibration of them moving around and that may bother him. Not sure if I should move his tank to a corner somewhere?
Thanks. How's the weather over there? been to TO recently?
From what I've seen, once they've settled in noise and vibration doesn't seem to bother them too much. I keep my tank in the living room and they seem to enjoy watching the action. I used to play music quite a bit and that didn't bother them either. I can't say for sure about a classroom setting but as far as I know it should be OK.
I haven't been to Toronto in quite some time unfortunately. Saw a Cubs game at the Skydome a few years back. My parents said they got a little bit of snow in Rochester. There's more up by the lakeshore and over toward Syracuse. I think Syracuse/Watertown/Kingston were getting hit pretty hard over the last few days. Not much snow here in Iowa. Just cold over the past few days (high of about 4f yesterday).
Thank you. At home he loved the noise, just getting him used to it at school.
I took him out yesterday and showed him to some classes. After that he seems a lot more comfortable, he has seen what the giant monsters are about (haha).
Nice you don't get a big winter, I do not like winter.
