Simon has been acting very off this last month or so and I thought it was because of his vub light so I changed it and saw no change. Still hasn't been eating so I took a sample that took me over a week to get because he poos once a week if that. Full of parasites!! So I drove the 45 minutes to get his meds and for 3 days at .5cc every 48 hours it still hasn't done much. His meds were upped to 24 hours and he goes in tomorrow for a B12 injection. I feel bad for the guy =[
Hi. Make sure he gets baths since he is not eating to stay hydrated. Also have you tried stage one baby food? You can feed him chicken, turkey, squash, sweet potatoes to help with his appetite and hydration and pooping. Hope he feels better.
I've been keeping him hydrated by feeding him water through a syringe. I know it sounds odd b it he actually really likes it that way. He refuses to drink in a bath so I figured if that's how he wants his water then by all means! I will ask the vet about the food. I'd be glad to feed him the baby food. He loves prune baby food lol so I'm sure he'll eat any flavor.
What type of chicken and turkey? Organic baked or just any turkey? I'm not a meat eater so I wouldn't really kNow how to cook it.... Thank you for your advice too!
Simon got his B12 shot today. Was sooo unhappy came back from the doctor heavily black bearding but calmed down once he got his mum. He will be on baby food til he starts eating again. Absolutely doesnt like the chicken food. Lives the pea flavored. We will have to wait and see. He said I could mix his calcium powder with his baby food since I haven't been able to get him his calcium for a while since he won't eat.
I hop that shot helps. Maybe he would like the turkey or you could mix a little chicken with the peas so he gets the protein he needs. I usually warm it in the microwave for 10 seconds or so mine like it warmed up. Their kinda spoild
Thank you everyone. I will try e squash. I didn't think of that one. I will try to warm up the chicken tomorrow. I did pick up the turkey but I don't want to have too many open. Can anyone tell me if I actually have to throw it away after 2 days like it says? There is no way he will eat all the food within 2 days after opening. I bought the all natural so I didn't have to worry about additives.
Simon has been on meds .4cc every 24 hours of Ponazuril 30mg/ml Suspension. At first we did the .5cc every 48 hours and I did a fecal after 3 doses and he came back strong with parasites, so they didn't go away. Now he is on the .4cc every 24 hours. He is still barely eating, and he is gaping quite a bit even when he feels a little cold. He is eating about 6 cali crickets every couple days and he started fighting me on eating his baby food. I've tried Peas, Green beans, sweet potatoes, and chicken and he just black beards me and runs away. Any ideas on what to do? I was told I can do 12cc worth of food, but I cant even get 1cc into him. He wont eat fresh greens, just dried out ones (I leave the greens in a bowl for the worms and crickets and he goes and eats them) but if I drop fresh in there, he turns his head away and walks off. He does Watch the worms and crickets but wont eat.
Can someone advise me? Im really worried about my Simon... Should I just start forcing the food in his throat? No matter what he eats he poops once a week.
I know once they're full grown they dont eat much, but he isn't even a year old. He's only about 8 I think.
I've been managing to get 3-4 syringes itnto so about 4cc worth of food a day. Which isn't too bad, the vet said I could do up to 12cc. The baby food has to be at room temp and absolutely no chicken baby food. When I saw him try to use his hind leg and scratch it off his face as he ran shaking his head, yeah, I got the hint. I found that if he doesn't see the syringe, he is ok eating it. he also does better if I do it while I hold him and pet him. He still black beards me though but never puffs up...
We got a good solid poo today! Last poo was Last Monday, but he has hardly eaten anything in the last month so, I guess we're making progress. Urates bright white, solid, which hasn't been in the longest time! Maybe my meds are working? Next time I'll take in a fecal and hopefully he'll get off his meds early!
