For anyone that saw my post about Shyla needing surgery….. well she had it today and she’s home recovering. We had an appointment on Wednesday to confirm is the surgery was needed and we definitely could see the eggs/follicles on the ultrasound. And although I didn’t have the extra money I’m glad she had it done. Everyone keep her in your prayers while she recovering the next 6-8 weeks.

Hello,

That's wonderful she is doing so well now after her surgery! I know it's always rough on them to go
through a surgery but most of the time they recover nicely. Hopefully she wont have anymore egg
issues in the future!
Keep us updated on her progress.

Lol you got me curious now. Is it still possible to develop eggs? I thought that was the purpose of the spay.

Hello,

There are virtually very few incidences of them developing or
laying anymore eggs after being spayed. Every so often though,
somehow an egg was left over somewhere or there was some
follicle left to where there were more eggs developed.
This is a rare incidence though & hopefully the vet got everything
all cleaned out.

Shyla had her 1 week appointment and everything appears to be healing well. With eggs she was 440grams and currently 400grams. She has started eating her regular diet. They did agree with @Drache613 that she is showing signs of gout most likely due to the eggs but hoping the antibiotics will correct that the issue. She is moving again which I’m excited about because she had gotten to the point she could barely walk.

Her tank is set up hospital style so that she doesn’t cause any damage to her stitches. And to avoid her possibly turning over on her side. So pretty much the tank is empty outside of a mini bed I found for her to lay in. She will be in this style setup for the minimum of 6weeks. The only thing that has not turned back to normal to one finger that swollen pretty big since this all started but within the last 2 weeks.

Tracie sells tart cherry extract on her site I think, it helps with gout. You can find tart cherry juice at the grocer some times also.

Hello,

If you have found some liquid tart cherry juice extract, you can give .5ML to
1ML daily, or every other day.
I hope she is feeling better. That's great to hear she is moving around more
so it sounds like her joints are improving. Has the swelling continued to go
down yet?
Keep us posted on her progress.

Hello,

It does look like the finger is more swollen. She may be developing gout, so you definitely need to keep
an eye on that to be sure the swelling doesn't continue to get worse. She may need to get on medication
for awhile. Keep her well hydrated right now.
You purchase the black cherry powder?

I can feel her staring into my soul demanding food
She was having a staring contest with a mealworm. I guess I never taught her to not play with her food, lol.
