Hi Everyone!

As a follow up to my last question, should I take Lily out of her den if she hasn't come out already? When I look inside, she's sometimes awake or sleeping. She's been in there for about 10 days now, and I'm not sure if I should disturb her or wait until she's ready.

Thank you for any suggestions!

I agree with @KarrieRee, other than offering water or getting her weight I'd let her do her thing 🙂
If your worried about her getting hungry you can leave greens through the day just in case 🙂

Not saying anyone is wrong, but I'm just throwing my experience out there because internet forums can become slight echo chambers of what is believed to be right and wrong, and it's good to share experiences even when contradictory.

In over twenty years of owning dragons, I never disturbed a dragon to weigh it during brumation or semi-brumation. Nor have I made it wake up to offer it water. If the dragon wants to come out, it will. And when the dragon is ready to, it will start basking again looking to restart it's metabolism and get the heart rate back up to normal.

IMO long brumations, and as consequence, long fasts, are are key aspects of a dragons longevity.

I also let my dragon do his thing during brumation - had not taken him out, had not offered water or such.
Some food (live plants) was always available.
I had only intervened in case something clearly would have looked off, like black beard, or becoming visibly thin, or if my dragons had health issues before.
(I was possible to peek into his cave without disturbing him or without removing anything.)
My dragon had one brumation and I'll do it just the same way during his next.
If the dragon wants to come out, it will. And when the dragon is ready to, it will start basking again looking to restart it's metabolism and get the heart rate back up to normal.

Exactly. I trust my dragon's instinct with this. I'd say: That's not my business (for a healthy dragon).

Thank you so much for your input! I'll definetly follow your advice. She's been maintaining weight and not looking sick or anything, just sleepy :) I mentioned in another post that she's been having stress marks on her belly when she's colder/darker, but otherwise, I'll let her sleep for the rest of winter!

Since I just gave her pumpkin water, should I try to poop her?

Hello,

How is your dragon today?
I wouldn't worry too much about trying to get her to go potty. What you gave her isn't very heavy so it
shouldn't be an issue at all. Is she sleeping now?

Hi Tracie!
Yes, she went back to sleep :) I woke her up on Xmas just so she could see her presents (one was a nice blankee!) and gave her a few supers, then she went back to sleep!

Hello Selkie!

Sorry I missed your message.
Good grief, they sure know how to sleep. At least you got her up for a short visit on Christmas so she
could see her new blankie & have a little snack. LOL She is a sleeping beauty right now.

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
cookie event at my library today, quite fun! Made some bracelets for my comrades too, to give them at church in the morning. Got a busy day tomorrow even though I’m off work… i go back on tuesday so atleast I’ll have 2 days off to rewind….then back to hell lol
