I have had my bearded dragon for about 8 or 9 months now. He is 20 inches long. My uvb is a reptisun t5 HO 10.0. As of right now I have been dusting his bugs 5 days a week swapping between calcium with d3 and without. I have read with the uvb light I have I do not need to use the d3, but have been scared to not use it at all just incase there is some benefit. The answers seem to be all over the place on this one so I am looking for some advice from someone knowledgeable. Should I keep doing what I am doing switching between the 2, or should I just do away with the d3 and only use plain calcium?
Personally (and it is what I have done raising pepper) is to use both or a low D3 all in one. Most insects will get dusted with plain calcium, I and some (maybe a few days a week) with D3. It's been the concensus among the vets/herpotligists/researchers that I've spoken to that high quality UV is best but that D3 in moderation is likely to be more beneficial than harmful. (Too much is bad it it's unlikely to overdose when used properly)
