I am a relatively new Beardie owner. Last week I mistakenly fed Burger some very large Dubia Roaches.. I was thinking that bigger would be better. Since then I have discovered the rule about the size of the food being no bigger across than the width of their eyes.
Since that time, his poops have been runny and more frequent. He and spit up what appeared to be part of an exoskeleton.
Last night I offered him a super worm, but he was not interested at all which is very unusual as he is normally very food motivated.
I have only offered him greens for about the past five days due to the above mentioned items. He still has water available and the temperature and humidity in his enclosure are where they need to be. Nothing has changed with his lights. His activity level hasn’t changed.
I’m not sure if this would be expected following giving him too Big of roaches or if this is some thing I should be more concerned about.
Like I said I’m relatively new to Beardie parenting so I appreciate any advice you can provide me
He is a good looking boy.
Did he chew up the roaches?
Bearding tend to just swallow soft bodied bugs like hornworms whole, but mine all chew up the supers and roaches. As long as he did chew them he will be fine.
Excessive running poop can be a sign of parasites especially if it really reeks. If it last more than a few poops i recommend collecting a sample and dropping it off at the vet to have it tested. Take it in within 24 hours of collecting it, and under no circumstance let them do an enema on him, it can end in tragedy.

Yes he is a very handsome boy. He did chew up the roaches. I was just fearful that I had done something stupid by giving him those large ones. He had two runny poops then one that was a little more formed. Waiting for the next one to see how that looks.. thanks for your help

Yes wait and see what the next poop looks like and hold off on the super worms for now- meal worms and supers do have a exoskeleton on them that make them a little more harder to digest -- especially the meal worms but usually adult dragon can handle them -- babies not so much --
