Okay, I put my two red ear sliders on here to find them a new home...one that could properly care for them and love them... the good news is i have someone interested!! the downside is I will have to ship them and have no idea as to how to do this... could anyone help me?? I'm going to do some google searching to see what i can find, but i would rather an experienced breeder / shipper let me know how they do this....
We just got our 6 week old Greek Tortoise today. It was shipped from florida. The breeder shipped it UPS Overnight Air, double boxed. The inside box had styrofoam and hot hands. The Tortiose itself was in a plastic container with a papertowel. The outer box also had hot hands. This little guy came from FT Myers all the way to Pittsburgh and in the cold it was fine. if you want you can ask the breeder himself. i'm sure he'll answer any questions. http://www.theturtlesource.com Marc and Felicia are awesome!! hope that helps!!!
thank you so very much!! i may just send them an email and speak with them... my ups says they wont ship them and my fedex wotn either... so i'm almost stuck
hhhmmmm....where are you located?? that's odd that they said they wouldn't ship them!!! Like i said, my little one is only 6 weeks old and i got it from a breeder from Florida. They breed TONS of turtles and tortoises and they ship all over, so the fact that you were told that they wouldn't ship them makes no sense to me!!! I mean, Marc and Felicia ship adult Sulcata tortoise!!!!
you are very welcome!! i have so much time on my hands lol. being a mom of 3 and a stepdaughter, and a stay at home mom at that, when they are behaving and all the kids with scales are taken care of, i surf the net about reptiles. We're trying to get into breeding and opening a reptile house, so the more info i can find the better. Feel free to message with any other questions!!
yeah it was a bit shocking to myself as well, i called the main FEDEX here in the city and they were telling me that i have to have certain paperwork to fill out and all this mess, i just shot them an email so maybe they can help me... this guy is super sweet and has a large enough tank for them (mine busted lucky i have great friends but i cant replace the tank so they have to find new homes) and he seems very excited about htem... I'm still trying to do some research on my own but everything i read says something different... again thank you so much for giving me their info, i'll keep you guys posted on what all i find out!!
I just wanted to let you know that they responded to my email with LOADS of information for me, i feel so much better about shipping them now... also i spoke with a manager at fedex and he says they can help me, that everyone there is still new and still learning yay!!! i'm so excited! I have found my turtles a good home and i can finally get them to him... i'm definalty gonna miss them but its for the best, i know he will be able to give them what they need...I cant wait to get home to send him an email and let him know!!! I'm so happy they will be going to him, but so upset to be having to let them go...
I'm so glad they could help you!! I know it must be rough. when you love someone or something so much you hate to part with it, but like you said, it's for the best. and when you are able to, get a new set up and maybe you can get something else. not that you would be replacing them, cause that would never happen. just take it easy and stay in touch with the guy and you'll always be in their lives. that what we did with Jumper's original owner. i talk to her all the time and send her pictures. keep me updated on everything!
