Ok sorry I'm just so excited I can't stand it.
Well arriving on my door step tomorrow morning by 10:30am will be our beautiful new citrus leatherback female from TnD Dragons.
I have the tracking number so I'm positive my boyfriend and I will be up all night anxiously awaiting her arrival. This is our second beardie, we currently have a male red leatherback named Frank. Hopefully the new babies temperament will be as awesome as Frank's. If not I don't care I'll love her forever! So wish me a restful night and I'll be back with pictures as soon as she arrives in the AM!
You are 100% correct on that statement.. Hahaha.. Tom has been amazing, and completely patient. He took the time to talk to me and made everything as simple as possible. I've never shipped an animal of any sort, so I'm on edge and my nerves are in a huge knot.. I'm actually scared too. I want everything to go perfect!
Hahaaaa! Better safe than sorry right. Well we honestly don't know what to expect, do I bathe her right away, or put her in her new home to bask and feed her right away? What do you do? I've read so many different things on here.
Aww how tiny! I've seen Summer and Autumn's threads, my how they grow!
Thank you so much, that's a big help, and exactly what we'll be doing. I'm hoping the relocation stress isn't too bad. With Frank we didn't experience it at all. I'm telling you we couldn't have gotten a more perfect first bearded dragon. My boyfriend Jeffrey is a reptile guy since he was young. I'm looking in to getting him a monitor for his birthday. Anyway thanks again, and you have beautiful dragons!
Since I got home almost three hours ago I've been adjusting her set up, the basking temp. I'm afraid to go too hot. What's too hot for a 7 inch baby? I hear 105 is great then it's 110 is perfect.. 105 even seems too hot to me..
Ok Thank you so much! I'm pretty sure we over purchased accessories for the enclosure..Deciding and choosing the best option for the basking spot is becoming ridiculous. Everything is a different temp, several degrees off of each other. I'm glad we're taking care of this before she gets here, it would suck to deal with this tomorrow. I'm sorry for the wordy posts...
I briefly considered ordering from someone and having a BD shipped to me. Alas, I was impatient and wanted my BD NOW goshdarnit all! I also was semi-paranoid about the whole shipping process thing. I know someone who had a gecko shipped to them and it worked out beautifically, buuut I'm still new to all of this and, knowing me, I'd still be thinking about the first BD I saw... and wondering if he ever found a home... and I'd still end up with two. :|
G'luck, and I hope you find something to keep you occupied between now and then! Other than bouncing up & down!
Ladies and Gentlemen, Sunny is in the building!
She arrived this morning at 9:20am, over an hour early. When I opened the box, the extremely well packed box, Sunny was asleep in her little deli cup. We gave her a bath, let her bask, and we just fed her a dozen crickets. She ate all of them, so we are going to give her another dozen now. She's on her basking rock studying every move I make. She's not hiding, but whenever we get close to the cage she ducks down. I had to make an adjustment in her cage and she wasn't afraid of me, but a paper towel I was cleaning with inside her cage, she bearded up and opened her mouth at! As soon as I put it down she was fine, even crawled in my hand and my boyfriends. We are trying not to stare at her or go over by the glass, just going to let her do her thing for a couple of days... I glance at her every few seconds, but I can't help it. The pictures Tom had of her just did her no justice. She's a bit dark now, but that's to be expected.
Sorry for the rambling.. Well she seems healthy and alert, she pooped a while ago also, and she's eating. What more could I ask for!
Anyone interested in purchasing a bearded dragon we highly recommend Tom from TND Dragons. This entire process has been amazingly comfortable and easy. As Tom said to me over the phone several times "keep things simple" and it definitely was. His dragons are beautiful, you get what you pay for.
