I have a new baby dragon. He’s been home with me for about a week. Doing real well he is still a little timid.
I been petting his head just to get him use to me. He is starting to shed. Should I just spray him with water in his cage because I don’t wanna just grab him and put him in a bath if he isn’t use to being handled that much yet. Any advise would be good thank you!
If the humidity is between the 20-50% he should shed pretty well as long as hes normal scaled. If you want you can spray him slightly, though it would mostly raise humidity for a bit which would be good as long as you made sure it didnt get too high for too long. No where above 50 or 60% most likely.
I would start handling him daily, I've never not handled my month-old babies from the moment I got them home, and it's definitely the best way to get them used to you. Always talk to them while you're picking them up, show them your hand while you're talking to them, and always approach from the side or the front of them and not from above so that they can see your hand. He'll be fine, and in a day or two he'll be absolutely fine with you holding him, coming out of his tank, etc. Usually the baby dragons that you get at a pet shop are perfectly fine with being handled, and while I know that some people insist on not touching or picking up their new baby dragons for weeks, lol, in my own opinion and experience you just need to do it.
