So my little dragon Spike still has skin from his past 2 sheds all over his face, chin and neck mainly. it appears really yellow and ive commonly freaked out thinking his yellow fungus returned, pretty sure its just skin now. So im just wondering if that could be a danger to them at all? he has alot of skin around his eyes in clumps and i dont wanna just pull it off cause i know that can be harmful. i just recently got another dragon of the same size and she has no traces at all of her past sheds, is it just easier for some more than others to shed?
Hes been kinda grumpy is there any way to help him get some of the skin off in a friendly way?
i want to hep him as much as i can
Stuck shed is usually either from a previous trauma (scars, injury and such) or related to husbandry (namely hydration). How do you offer water and how often do you bathe?
Some folks have luck with home remedies (I've used raw aloe gel) to help loosen the old skin and get it off, but be careful since its around her eyes. You'll want to make sure you get everything squared away husbandry wise so that she is able to shed well on her own next time.
Retained shed, depending on where it is can be dangerous loss of limbs, digits, tails etc.
I leave a dish full of water and change it every other day, also because i never see them drink out of it i offer water with a syringe they dont oftenly take it. I probably bathe them maybe twice a week just because they really dont like bathes.
Heres a link to my photo bucket library, last two pictures are of skin around face and eyes and first one is suspected yellow fungus. Hes yellow all over cause he goes yellow before he sheds but it looks like fungus the two patches on his neck http://s1156.photobucket.com/user/allybee123/library/?sort=3&page=1
I can't see any of the pictures, it is marked private. Does your little one still have the yellow blotches or did they shed off? If it is some sort of fungal infection that could be why his sheds are difficult for him.
Are you bathing them in the same container/sink? If there is a possibility of fungus you want to be extra careful not to transmit it to your healthy beardie.
i changed the setting to public for the pictures
his face looks abit better but theres still quite a bit of skin from previous sheds. before he sheds it does turn yellow so some of it is him shedding but there is a spot where im pretty sure he has fungus.
do you know any other remedies for helping to get the previous skin off? and i havent bathed him since ive seen the area that looks like fungus cause if it is i dont want it to spread.
I thought I would post the pictures here for you to make them easier to view.
Unfortunately, those pictures do show signs of yellow fungus, definitely not normal shedding. He had yellow fungus previously, how long ago? Did you bath him in Betadine and apply an anti-fungal cream before or did a vet prescribe medications?
