She totally plays mind games with me.

Esbi is about a year old. I've had her for just over two weeks now, and she's spent most of that brumating. She got active again two days ago, and has been having fun with me.

She had a nice big meal of crickets and superworms when she got her appetite back. I tried her with some endive too, and the second I walked near her viv with it, she locked on and followed it with her head and eyes. Attacked it as soon as I got it with in range of her head and mouth. I was like: "Sweet. Won't be hard to get her to eat veggies." So I got her another piece. And she zoned in on it the exact same way, but wouldn't eat it.

Since then, she always eats one piece, looks really interested for more, and then doesn't eat it. When I retract the piece, she looks all interested and follows it again. So, I'll put it near her again. And she shuns it. We repeat this until I give up. xD

She also watches me through the glass, and pokes at the side closest to me, like: "C'mon. Let me out. Shoulder ride time. You're home. Me out of cage tiiiiime." So I take her out. She'll sit peacefully on me for a while, then start climbing around. If I go to take her back to her viv, she squirms in protest. If I take her off me, she'll stand around and stare at me like: "Dude. This isn't you're shoulder. I'm on a cold floor. Pick me up." And if I do? A few minutes of peace before she's rowdy again. xD

She also bad at accepting things. I'll give her some new food, put her on a soft blanket, or add something to her viv, she gives this affronted look, that just screams, "How dare you. I don't want to like this or you. Hmph."

8] I love her.

ah, welcome to the life of "beardie slave"! They keep us guessing! Ours does the same thing, snatches a bite then plays hard to get... even clamping his mouth real tight when trying to offer by hand... then we quit looking at him, and he'll sneak over and take more bites...

Try putting a little butternut squash or sweet potato (shredded them!) on top of the greens... Crash will pick out the orange / red stuff on his picky days, so at least he's getting some ruffage. I also put some prickly pear fruit on top of his orange/green today, and he snarfed up the prickly pear first, then the butternut, then the sweet potato, then dug for worms in his greens. He's my most stubborn child sometimes.

@Ethelia - xD Ohyeah. I'm loving how she knows how to get it, too.

@Goonie - I feel like she's got me figured out, and how to make me do what she wants, while I'm floundering about whatever new gesture she makes.
xDDD Thank you. My friend came over to see her, and take pictures. In that one, she said: 'She's smiling. It's because she can see my juicy neck.' I had to.

@Blondie - Ha! Yeah. She'll do that when I try to hand feed her. Shuts her eyes and ignores me, too.
Shredding is a great idea, I think I'll try that with her salad tomorrow, thanks!
I've tried her on prickly pear. No luck. Same with butternut. I'll try the sweet potato next. She can't hate everything. 8)
