So 2 days ago I took in this adorable little 11 month old Central.
I found him on a Facebook page for beardies needing rescue and rehoming and just fell in love with his pics.
He’s in great condition and loves his greens with is a bonus and the only thing I need to work on with him is getting him used to regular handling again.
He needed to be rehomed because his original owner had recently moved and changed jobs then found the new hours didn’t leave enough free time to give him all the attention he needed on a regular basis.
He’s settling in nicely to his new home and we’re working on handling. He hasn’t gone off his food which is great and he’s got a healthy appetite.
I’ve found him to be a very energetic, curious and agile juvenile who seems to particularly enjoy climbing around on his climbing/basking wall.
He has some beautiful patterning and coloration which I’m eager to see how that will develop as he grows.
I get the feeling he’s going to be a big guy with how long his tail and limbs are.

He looks great ! Healthy, alert and nice sized, of a normal/standard color . Try not to over feed him, he is good proportions for a healthy 11 month old and getting them to a huge size quickly is sometimes to the dragon's detriment. A healthy appetite is fine but there are a lot of people that think a fat dragon is normal . It's best to not feed them lots of insects at this size and age, every other day about 6-7 larger bugs but salads every day or can be just on the non insect days. When they are lean they have less health problems in general. Once they hit 18 months then insects about 1-2 x a week is good or just a couple every other day. Love the pic of him looking out of his tank !

Omg he is fantastic.
This little dude is in for a wonderful life. We've seen your success with neglected beardies so starting with a healthy beardie will be a walk in the park for you 🙂 It makes me really happy for you and him both 🤗
I can't wait to follow his story with you.

Hello Apollo! Very beautiful dragon! If you have any questions about setting up lighting, you can always get advice from our specialist @KarrieRee. And Welcome to the forum!
@Spider8ait1994 isn't a newbie 🙂 He took in two rescues some years ago and absolutely saved them and gave them wonderful lives. He just recently lost Puff, one of the rescues, so reading this thread has made me so happy. Apollo has just landed in the best home he could have ever wished for.
He also recently published a care guide for beardies, I dunno if it's available internationally yet but I'm looking forward to giving it a read 😀 👍

Ah, so that's it! It seems I was overly vigilant.🤔
Well then, I'll be eagerly awaiting the release of this guide too. :D

Yes it is available internationally through Amazon as either a kindle file or physical paperback and is also available through some other online book retailers as well as digitally on hoopla.

As for Apollo food wise I’m giving him salads and veggies every day and he’ll get insects every couple days with calcium and D3.
And I will also be monitoring weight on a regular basis as part of my record keeping with monthly weight checks.
Below are some links to the guide.

Been a couple days since he was rehomed with me now and he’s settling in amazingly! He’s also making good progress with getting used to handling again and really loves his veggies so he’s getting a salad every day which he eats from on and off throughout the day then every couple days he’s getting insects with calcium & D3 so given he’s a month away from the 12 month officially an adult age I have his food schedule pretty closely matched to what I do for adult dragons which is a repeating cycle of veggies -> veggies -> insects + supplement -> veggies -> veggies -> insects + supplement etc.
Interestingly I’ve found just like my previous dragon Puff did he’s taken a big liking to my fish tank so when I have him out for handling practice that’s always what he wants to go and look at up close and it does seem to keep him calm (also like Puff).
And that’s got me thinking about whether fish tanks being interesting/calming to dragons is a consistent thing of if it’s just coincidence so if we have other dragon parents here who also have fish tanks maybe we could do some sort of unofficial study on this?
I figure if it’s a consistent thing knowing this might provide a technique we can use to help particularly nervous/anxious dragons or make a rehoming transition a little less stressful?
And check out the length on that back leg when he’s got it all stretched out it’s like 6cm from hip to ankle with a 3cm foot.
Did a check today on that length against my big 10 year old guy Spike who is considered a BIG guy and he has a 6.5cm leg with a 4.5cm foot 😲

Hi there a little update we went from a 50 watt heat lamp to a 100 watt basking halogen heat lamp hahaha I saw some comments about it being so close so I made sure to put it a ruler away from her
Has anyone seen this before? Something in the corner of his mouth
