Saving Hummie...

Hi everyone. I am new to this forum. Our family has a beardie named Hummie. She is about six years old and is a real sweetheart. I recently took her to the vet because she hasn't had a bowl movement in over three weeks. The vet examined her and took some x-rays. She found that there was a mass in Hummie's abdomen that is pressing on her colon. I believe that there is someone out there who knows how to help us. Does anyone know of a person who has the skill to deal with Hummie's situation? Please let me know.

I don't know what can be done other than getting a second option from a different vet, perhaps, but I wanted to offer you my support. Sounds like Hummie is well loved and you're doing your best to take care of her. I'm so sorry that little Hummie is struggling!

Hello,

So sorry about little Hummie. Do you happen to have a copy of the x-rays you could post?
Has she ever laid any eggs before? That is always a possibility there are eggs or a mass
of developed follicles causing issues. Did they not do a blood test on her?
Go ahead & post some pictures of her along with the tank setup so we can see her tank &
her physical condition.
A mass isn't always indicative of cancer, etc but a blood test would definitely help out to try
& determine other issues, too.

Hi. My name is Denise and I have an almost 6 yr old Beardie, named Elliot, who is my buddy. I love him so much. He didn’t have a bowel movement for 2 weeks, so as a concerned mom, I took him to his regular exotic vet and she noticed a knot in his upper abdomen. We were referred to a specialist, who performed an ultrasound and took a biopsy of two cysts in his liver. The pathologist confirmed my little guy has a metastatic carcinoma, that’s spreading to all his organs. Elliot has only weeks to live. I’m so distraught and can’t stop crying. I’m told he’s not in pain as of right now, but when his beard turns black and he’s sluggish is when I need to have him euthanized. I’m having the hardest time. I never thought in a million years, that I would love this little guy like he’s my child. I’m spending every minute with him to get my cuddles in. I will have him cremated and a necklace made from him. Thank you all, for the stories. It’s soothing to know there are others who love their beardies as much as I do Mine.

Hi. I’m so sorry. I’m dealing with some of the same issues. You can read my post below. I was referred to a reptile specialist at Blue Pearl in Clearwater, Fl. They performed an ultrasound and saw two cysts and took biopsies. The pathologist confirmed my Little guy, Elliot, has a metastatic carcinoma in his liver and it’s spreading to his other organs.The pathologist thinks it started, elsewhere in his stomach. I have no options to save him, so, I’m going to enjoy him during his last days. It’s so hard. Good luck.

I am so sorry for little Hummie's situation, it is never easy. There has been a great deal of the
stomach cancers, etc. I strongly believe it is the food, water & environment unfortunately. You
could try some CBD oil, it is very effective for cancer, tumors, overall health, etc for all animals.
How is he doing right now, is he wanting to bask or eat at all?
Definitely spend good quality time with him & keep him comfy, but I know he feels your compassion
for him. Let us know how he is doing.
