As long as you paint and seal (or stain and seal) you can use pretty much any wood. You really should seal it anyway to keep "things" from multiplying in them, makes for easier disinfecting.

I totally skipped the sealing of the wood part by purchasing Melmain wood!!! That saved me about a week of building and in the end I got down to being able to build these in an afternoon. That was of course if I had all the supplies and didn't have to run back and forth to the store. That is the most annoying part of building these. Try to buy all of your parts and pieces before you start.

It’s been a month since I’ve joined bd.org! It feels like it’s been longer than that, but I’m glad I’m here and apart of this lovely community!
I can feel her staring into my soul demanding food
She was having a staring contest with a mealworm. I guess I never taught her to not play with her food, lol.

Definitely going to be using this image if I ever catch a fence lizard again.
