Hello,

Oh poor Toothless, so sorry he has had a rough time of things right now. That is very odd how he seemed
to get ill so suddenly. They do hide health issues pretty well indeed, for quite awhile. I'm happy to hear
that he made it through the anesthesia without any trouble.
Hopefully the liver medication will help him out right now. I didn't think he looked obese?? What is his
weight & length?
I hope he is home with you soon.

He is 700-something grams, like 720 at most and is just under 22 inches long. I didn't think so either, but she said the ct scan shows his fatpads are really large, indicating that he's very obese, apparently.

I know the fatty liver disease is a big issue with these guys. I suspect we been keeping captive bred for so long we've forgotten what the wilds look like.
Hopefully the meds help him feel better very quickly.
Don't beat yourself up about not picking up on it sooner. In my experience they are perfectly normal and then they are not. They really do hide illness very well.
The vet called. They want to push his discharge back to 5, if they let him go home at all today. They said hes just not burning through the sedative, he shouldn't still be groggy or really sedated or anything like that. And he should be by now so that tells him his liver function is t good at all. They reversed the pain meds and it did perk him up a bit but... God, I can't lose my boy...

Hello,

That is frustrating, your poor boy! I'm glad they were able to get him perked up some. I hope they are able
to get him discharged soon. We are all pulling for him!

We were able to bring him home. They said his fat bodies are so big, they want him on an aggressive weight loss therapy. He's 720 and they want him at about 430 at 6 calories a day, which they said basically a small salad and about 6 crickets, once a week. They gave him some pain meds, liver protecting meds and gallbladder meds that make bile move through the gallbladder. They can't do surgery until he's a little better so I guess it's up to Toothless at this point.

Hello,

Oh poor Toothless. I hope he is doing better. Which medications/supplements did they give him? I
am glad that he is at home, with you right now. He will feel better being in familiar surroundings. He
will be on a diet, he wont be happy about that!
Please keep us posted on him. I also posted on your other thread, too.

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
