REXX WHAT?

Rexx was quite ill about a year ago...MBD, Coccidia & Ambea, beat them all. It was a long road, but we finally are out of the woods. Rexx is still tiny as a result of all of the trauma, but really coming along. Had the 1 year checkup and all is well. Today I went in to check Rexx before I left for the day and HE had laid eggs. Took a minute to register, that he is a GIRL! I was in disbelief, I called my husband in and sure enough, Rexx is not a boy, but a girl....I had the vet sex him ....HER (last year) and he said she was a boy...guess not! So although she has not been with a male, she did have a clutch of eggs (11)...boy was I surprised. Thankfully, she has enough calcium in her system and she has returned to a healthy girl and...now we know she's a girl!!!

Haha... that's how I learned my gecko was a girl. Woke up one day and she had two eggs in her tank. Oops

Oh dear! Perhaps being so tiny made it tough to sex her.
At least Rexy is still a nice girls name.
We made the same mistake you did and named our GIRL Dexter...which is a little less feminine! hehe.

what happens now? Are the eggs just not fertilized? Why would that happen? That must have been a heck of a surprise LOL. Especialy after a vet sexing her.

Yes, they are duds. I am happy that she laid them, because it indicates that her body is strong now, after we almost lost her. I didn't know that she could lay eggs having never been mated....that was the surprise for me!!! Took her about a week of resting to get back up to par, but she's looking good again.

Ahhh for the love of a name. Add an i or an a or an ia and you can make a call name very female. The boys are usually shorter.

Rexia Rexi Rexa and for your Dexter... try the same Dexia Dexi and Dexa. Very girlish yes?
