Thanks Tracie! Thank you KarrieRee!

The other med is Loxicom. I give her .05 ml and the solution is 1.5 mg/ml.

Basking area is getting to be as hot as 107. I keep a probe by her to make sure where she’s lying it’s not getting too hot. Since she can’t move right now I am keeping her at around 95. First thing in the morning I am putting her in the basking area for about an hour then take her out for her daily bath and feeding. She doesn’t seem to like the high heat for too long. I just got some light stands so I’m hoping I can control heat better.

My gut is telling me to go at her pace and comfort level and let her teach me what she needs. I believe a couple weeks ago she may have wanted to die but I think some of the attention and enrichment we’ve provided her in the last week is giving her more interest in life. Sometimes I can see it in her eyes.

I am totally fine with trying anything to avoid stressing her out with the subcutaneous fluids. Could you give me specifics?

How much how often?

She’s drank from her bath when I did not tilt the water back. Do I let her do that again?

I’m giving her very watered down stage 1 organic baby food pumpkin puree. Would that cover her water needs?

Thank you!!

I did try a few drops of water around 4 pm and she was alert and swallowed. I tried dripping on her nose but she did not lick it.

Hello,

How is she doing today? That's great she did take in a little fluids. If she isn't taking water off of her
nose then you can let her drink from a bath but using care not to let her guzzle it so she doesn't
aspirate any.
If you are giving watered down baby food then that would definitely qualify as some fluids.
Good, the 107F basking was probably a bit high for her. Be sure she is at least in a range of 9F to
98F for digestion & optimal health.
Keep encouraging her & go slowly with her. They are very resilient & can bounce back from dire
situations, especially when they find a reason to live.
Does she seem to be bothered by the pain medications at all, like black bearding, etc?

Hi!

Good news she is moving her back legs today! I gave her a warm 15 minute bath and at the end I gently massaged in small circles from under her armpit down to her vent. She did not like it at all. I’m sure it was uncomfortable even though I used a very light gentle touch. While I massaged her she started moving her back legs in the water for the first time in over a week. When I put her back in her terrarium she continued to move them a bit. I’m hoping that means things are moving through her.

@KarrieRee I probably won’t hear back from Tracie before 9pm tonight so wanted to ask you. I gave her 1 mL of pumpkin with some drops of olive oil today. Should I try another feeding of 1 mL tonight if she’ll eat it? I imagine with the impaction I don’t want to be too aggressive. I haven’t been giving her anything else but pumpkin puree and water since Thursday night. I am trying to prioritize her pooping given impactions can be fatal. Let me know if that sounds right or if I should still be doing critical care.

Tracie, her beard was black when I first rescued her but it does seem to be lighter now. I don’t think I saw it change with medication but I stopped the tramadol. I’m really happy she is moving around more. Could you also give me that heat range again for her? It looks like one of the numbers got deleted so I wasn’t sure what the bottom range was that you recommended. I think she’s a very spiritual girl. I sang Ave Maria to her and every time I stopped she moved her head towards me. :)

Thank you both!!

I would feed her the pumpkin till she poops- make sure she has water and is hydrated thats going to push things thru as well -- the swimming in the water is helping w/ the leg moving -- optimal temps for surface basking is 95-100

Thank you! Do you think it’s okay to do another mL of pumpkin tonight?

Yes but she needs 2-3 hrs of bask time before lights out

Thank you! If I feed her at 8 that would give her about 2.5 hours basking time.

What’s a good goal for water intake since she’s dehydrated? Should I be giving a few drops throughout the day? Or more significant amounts? Thanks again!

You can offer water thru a eye dropper or drop on her nose see if she will lick- I give water to my eye sight impaired dragon on a salad plate I set his front feet on the plate spray his head so the water drops off his nose on his plate and he drinks off the plate

I have good news! She pooped!! It was a ball of white. I know there’s more that has to come out but I’m so relieved it’s coming out.

Hello,

Wow, she is really starting to improve!
Did you end up giving another 1ML of pumpkin to her today? As Karrie suggested, just be sure she
has a couple of hours prior to lights out or bedtime to digest any foods you may give.
Oh the nighttime temperatures can be in a range of 75F to 80F just to help boost her system & keep
her comfortable right now while she isn't feeling 100%.
It does take time for their systems to go through changes
& to push out impactions, etc.
It's a terrific sign that her beard isn't dark right now, & it
is only slightly gray now so that is a big improvement.
I am so happy for her. Be patient with her & keep working
with her. You are doing great!
Let us know how things are going.

Thank you!

Poor sweet girl turned pale before she passed stool but looks really good today. It seemed so traumatic for her that I did not give her the 1 ml of pumpkin I was planning on trying last night. She had a ml this morning though.

The advice from the vet was so confusing they said try feeding her first thing in the morning then 12 hours later. That seemed way too late so I never did. Thanks for letting me know (both of you) about the two hours needed before lights out.

Having just met her at a sick point, I don’t know what my targets are for feeding. A ml a day seems not enough. I’m going slow because I believe she has more poo to get out but I’d love some guidance on feeding. Can I start giving her organic baby food squash and carrots and sweet potatoes and chicken and turkey? I have Rep Cal phosphorous free calcium with D3. Is that the right kind? Should I start sprinkling that in if so?

Thanks!!
