I have a VERY malnourished and skinny beardie rescue and she refuses to eat anything. I have never had this problem with one before, there would always be something they would eat, but this one wont touch anything I give her.
You can try syringe feeding her squash or sweet potatoe baby food with chicken mixed in for protein. You can also add critical care if you have it. I put a drop of food where the lips meet. Often they will get curious and lick it off. When this happens, squirt a little more on. It can be a tedious process but it has always worked for me.
If you don't want to do babyfood, I know others who make a slurry. They put feeders and greens into the blender with Ca+ and vitamins, add a bit of water and blend until smooth. You can also syringe feed this mixture.
I fed her the slurry, which she didn't like too much. I tried feeding her some greens today and she took a couple small pieces out of my fingers, so hopefully that is a good sign. Lets hope it gets better.
She's eating consistently on her own now. Not a lot at a time, but she's still eating on her own. She's also moving around a lot more now.
But, she defecated for the first time the other day and she definitely has some kind of parasite. I'm trying to get a vet visit scheduled for sometime soon.
Well, that's great news that she is eating independently even if it's a little bit. Every calorie is a good calorie right now. Good luck with the vet and pls keep us posted on how she's doing.
