I have a Reptisun T8 10.0 36 inch long uvb bulb in a zoomed hood with a reflector. I know the T5 are stronger but I was wondering if having it in a hood with a reflector made enough of a difference? Other than buying a UVB meter (they're like $200 :? ) is there another way to tell if my beardie is getting adequate UVB? will he be ok with the reptisun T8 10.0 ? how do I know if it's not enough?
What is the distance you have the T8 Reptisun 10 from him?
Do you have it on top of the screen or under neath of the screen? When you have the light in the fixture with a reflector then the UVB output will be adequate for your dragon.
The only way to measure the UVB would be with a meter.
You should be able to determine whether or not your dragon is getting enough UVB by way of his behavior or if he exhibits any signs or symptoms of metabolic bone disease.
I have it on top of the screen. it is about maybe 8 inches from the highest point of his basking spot, but if he wants he can climb the wall and get right under it. He usually only goes on the wall about 30 min before the lights on his tank go off and he sleeps in this position.
