Jayden's viv needs a new light, and I noticed that there is a newer Reptisun 10.0 tube out, the T5 HO. According to the ad, it gives off more UVB's. Is this good or bad? Would it make things too warm? Jayden is now about 7 years old, and doing the semi-brumation thing. Should I stick with the tried and true, or get one of these newer bulbs? There's one listed that's 22 inches, and the bulb that I currently have in the fixture is 24 inches from the end of the prongs on one side to the end of the prongs on the other side. The white part is close to 22 inches. Would it fit?

I believe the T5 HO's need a T5 HO fixture... not too sure how a regular T5 fixture would work out.

The Reptisun 10.0 UVB T5 HO is actually commonly used currently and recommended, it's a very good bulb. I've had my beardies on it for most of their life, other than the two days my adults had a compact bulb. Just now switched over to an Arcadia D3+ T5 HO 14% bulb currently for my two females, eventually switching my male over once his runs out in 4-5 months.

They have a higher output of UVB from my understanding, not much heat. Even with a 46" bulb going over two 20 gallons it barely raised the temps so you shouldn't worry about too much heat with it.

That's a marketing thing. A T5 bulb will fit a T5 fixture if it's appropriate size. Most of the 24'' T5 fixtures will house a 22'' T5 bulb. The ReptiSun 10.0 and Arcadia 12% are both good T5 bulbs that can be used in a T5 fixture. The T5 bulbs don't give off much heat. They are just warm to the touch after running all day. A T5 in a fixture with a reflector should sit about 12'' above the basking area to provide optimal levels of UVB.

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
