I’ve tried several times to attach a video but it won’t allow it to go through. If I’m being completely honest: I don’t think any of the reptile specialists we’ve seen know anything at all. They have drained my bank account and left us with nothing but unanswered questions. She didn’t even give it recommend a safe anti fungal cream or antifungal wash or anything. So I have no idea what we’re going to do. I definitely don’t see yellow fungus either but she 100% has been having shedding issues for like the last year. I’m desperate for someone educated to HELP ME HELP HERNo way. I see that you've been to 6 specialists already and found no hep. This will be your 7th.
Is your vet is assuming this is yellow fungus ? Because the treatment for it can be harsh. Voriconazole may be the med. the vet is talking about ? Your dragon doesn't have Y.F. though.
Can you post a pic of her walking ? A little shakiness can be explained with a heavier dragon when they just get moving at times.
No eggs. I’ve been trying to find info about safe creams/wash/gel anything and it’s almost impossible to get straight clear answers online. Thank you for giving me clear options. Do you think curoxen would be ok to use? It says it’s organic, natural, no antibiotics and it treats a bunch of different fungal/bacterial skin issues.Hello,
I agree, we have seen dragons too many times on here, get overmedicated for something
that they don't have only to not make it.
I don't really see any fungal issues right now.
If there are any issues with the shedding, silver gel, or raw honey should help to clear it up.
As Brandon has stated, the Voriconazole for fungal treatment is very hard on them. Many
don't make it through the treatment.
Has she ever laid any infertile eggs?
Tracie
She’s on tile and has been for at least a year. She doesn’t have a dig box but I plan on making her one today. I just didn’t want to add more in case it is fungal and possibly make it worse somehow. I definitely appreciate your input because you do make a great point but it’s nothing environmental that I can think of at all. I’m so ocd with her and uptight about her care and we’re beyond careful with her and everything involving her. We wash our hands with the surgical soap before we touch her ALWAYS and after. I don’t allow bugs in her house and our house stays clean. So how could this even happen? It makes absolutely no sense to me.Does she have a dig box or is she allowed to dig outside? Or had she been kept on wood chips ect? The reason i ask, i used to keep one of mine on chips and they stained her and she looked similar to yours. I put her on tile and a couple baths with a scrub from a soft toothbrush and she was back to normal. (Just a thought). Make sure it isn't something environmental before letting the vet give her harsh meds.
I think you could be right! As guilty as it makes me feel, I had to help her or it would and could have been so much worse. Her blood supply was definitely being cut off so it’s better to have a few scales that need healing rather than a lost tale or limb. I’m going to try to stop freaking out and approach/handle this rationally. I think the vet is jumping the gun on this one. I’m glad you guys have given me hope and helpful advice/suggestions. I really do appreciate it.The little bit of scale trauma on the tail may also have been caused by the times you were scraping to help shed which is never recommended , but it should be fine with a little silver cream on it or even without. I think that your vet has you shook up. I think she's going to be fine !
I’m definitely trusting you guys on this thread more than these random vets who don’t seem to know anything at all and definitely don’t actually care about the animals well being. You guys are all amazing on here! Thank u thank uIt might be O.K but one of the ingredients I saw is essential oil which can be toxic to reptiles. I'm not sure how much is in that ointment or if it matters what kind it is. Silver cream and raw honey are both used as topicals for beardies though so those are good options. Please believe us though, your dragon is not in danger with that small amount of speckling on her scales. I would cancel the vet appt. and avoid all the stress and possibly very serious harm or at the least unnecessary treatment. Your dragon is fine ! EDIT _ Ooops, didn't see your new reply, glad that you are seeing it in a better light !
I forgot to ask As far as anti fungal cream, are all anti fungal creams safe to use? I was told limisil was ok but there are several others as well (in sprays, creams, gels and powders, but the antifungal main ingredient is different in each one. Can I use any others besides lamisil? You're welcome ! Everyone here answering genuinely cares about dragons, we all own + have owned them for 15, 20, 30 years and have seen all types of things . We also care very much about owners who are trying to do their best for these amazing + fun creatures. We know about crazy sheds that look unnatural , this can scare the owner but uneven and odd looking sheds are the norm. ALL dragons shed in crazy patters + can take a long time but it's totally normal. Any time you are worried about shed, just post it here.
Ok awesome! I’ll try the silver cream and honey first and hope for improvement. Thank you again!I know people on this forum have used Lamisil for light fungal problems. Your dragon has just very light scale damage And Lamisil should be fine, or the silver cream or unpasteurized honey.
