Hi all, I got a 1 year old female on the 16th or 17th December. I don't know how long relocation stress lasts if they go through it. She eats well and looks alert and well. But when I try to take her out, she puffs up her beard and shows warning signs of "leave me alone". I pick her up anyway because I have to let the cage cool down every hour or so. She was wild for a month or so when she got out and couldn't be found. She is quiet when out and isn't aggressive. So my question is, is she feisty or not very tame, or just relocation stress? My other female did the same but stopped after her first week with me, so I figured it was relocation stress.
My other question is, I received a dragon harness with Cleo (New dragon) I use it on her and my other dragon, Cleo is fine with the harness, and Queen as well, but today she keeps puffing up her beard and body after the the thing is off. Is this oncoming shed or because of the harness?
Relocation stress can last different time spans for different dragons. Give him time to settle in, and what ever you do don't stop handling her daily. Don't let her get away with anything or she will take advantage of it.
The puffing could be because of shedding or just because it feels weird to have the harness off. I know when I take the harness off my dragon he will go all around his tank scuffing over his rocks and logs, it's hilarious to watch!
Also why would you have to cool down your tank every hour? Your tank should keep a steady temp during the day and another steady temp during the night. Basking side should be 100-110F, cool side 80-85F and at night it shouldn't drop below 60F
