The red monsters were extremely line bread to bring them into existence. Any time that done there are going to be problems. That being said people have started out breeding them into other lineages and they are supposedly getting better. I love the way they look, but personally it would still be a while before I would consider bringing one home. Or it would have to come from a long time established breeder that could provide me with the lineages of his dragons. So I have seen them and think they are beautiful, but Ive heard that this morph can be associated with health and neurological issues..is that true? Anyone know or have one? @xp29
Thanks. An exotic reptile keeper in our area has 2...brother and sister, but they are not extremely red...kind of red and black, so maybe they are mixed with another morph. I dont know much about those two.The red monsters were extremely line bread to bring them into existence. Any time that done there are going to be problems. Oh, Kai is all the dragon I can handle right now! I was just curious. I dont think I could afford another setup...but in the future who knows? Id prob just get another standard or maybe a citrus like yours (isnt that what Lucy is? A citrus?)I'd inquire before I got them just in case.

I think the translucent gene can be a culprit of some eye issues. As far as I know it's the worst trait to breed visual to visual.I have a red translucent/ wiblet - he is now eye site impaired - one eye has a cataract the other the cornea is not round and oval - I have no idea how that came about hes always had good lighting and was fine up until about 2 years or so - he also had a liver infection at one point - he does not eat salads on his own and am feeding Oxbow critical care both herbivore / carnivore - I can get him to eat super worms and dubias but it is a struggle for him to catch them - I can get him at times to take the supers / roaches off the tongs - its a patience thing - you can look at him and tell he is not well - I dont know if that was from the breeding of the two different dragons or what - the vet and I are stumped as to what caused the eyes to do what they did -
That is sad -- I saw his mother and father and his father was beautiful-I think the translucent gene can be a culprit of some eye issues. As far as I know it's the worst trait to breed visual to visual.
Translucent is a beautiful morph. It just needs to be bread ethicallyThat is sad -- I saw his mother and father and his father was beautiful-
