You will need to get the UVB inside the tank then --- get some picture wire hangers and hang directly above the basking decor piece 12-15 inches -- the screen is going to block 30% of the UVB rays -- you will see a difference in behavior and colors on him -
:/ I can try... But I quite literally just got the light today. I don't think anyone will be thrilled....

Idk what say man... I said I could try, but I have a cat as I said that jumps onto the mesh... Would it help if I put something higher up toward the UVB to bask in?
I would cut a hole in the screen for just the UVB so it shines in w/ no screen blocking it -- you can shut the cat out of the room as well --

Hi @Wintersedits! As KarrieRee has said, correct lighting and UVB is crucial for your beardies health. As another beardie owner who still has to listen to parents, ;) I understand and struggle. I really recommend sitting down with your parents and doing some much needed research. This site was quite literally a life saver for me and my little guy. Without proper lighting your beardies health can quickly decline. Please try to take any and all advice KarrieRee is giving you. She is our resident lighting expert ;)! She even helped me when I was a new owner! I still rely on her and quite a few others on this forum for important info for my beardie! Best of luck!

Doing my best to! I've done my fair share of research on beardies too... I'm so glad I found this site. I was originally going onto reddit but I quickly figured out it wasn't when someone asked what was wrong with their leo gecko because the owner found white things in it cage to which people said "it's just a jellybean" or some other useless things 😞About a month later someone finally said that their leo laid eggs... I prefer this site so much better

I'm so glad you came to the site! If there are any questions you have for me feel free to direct message me! I understand there are some unique challenges to owning a beardie as a kid. I'd love to help you out!

It really did bring a sense of better responsibility and watchfulness and being on guard when I had him, when ever I let him be a raptor on the couch or floor, I'm just suddenly hyper aware of the 8 cats we have, really only two just care about him which the two hunt outside so I'm often watching for them, and keeping an eye on Tex since he doesn't seem to know what "danger" or predator is..

He's caused the fall of multiple cricket civilizations.... What chaos has your beardie ensued
;) Mirage is quite the trouble maker! Once (thank goodness I was in a small room...) he knocked over the container of roaches. They were everywhere!!! I fortunately got all of them back in the box. None escaped...except the ones he ate 🤣

Hey, I just saw one of your posts from a few months ago, I’m sorry for your loss of Sweet Pea and Zen, I know that’s really rough, and I’ll keep you in my prayers!
