Our Rankin dragon has stopped eating hasn’t opened his eyes in weeks and today we have noticed yellowish gunk under one eye 😞

For context we rescued our little Norbert 2 years ago from a friend who breads dragons, he had sold Norbert to a family and the kids stopped wanting to look after him, we rescued him as we couldn’t stop thinking about this poor dragon.

I am beside myself and really want him to get back to himself

I think @AHBD might have kept them or @Drache613 might xan help, but it sounds to me like you might should get him to a vet.

Aw, poor little dude. So is the ceramic heater [ CHE ] the source of heat, and what are the temps. throughout the tank ? What type of uvb do you have and when was it last changed ? Are there loose insects in there ?
For now you can use real RAW, unpasteurized honey on that eye [ yes it works very well ] dilute a few drops with a few drops of lukewarm water and apply 2-3 X a day. Just be sure there are no loose insects that will definitely go after the eye + honey.

the temperature is 38 degrees centigrade and yes the ceramic is the source of heat, the uvb is
Arcadi EURO RANGE DESERT 10%+ UVB LAMP RFRP15 SO-T8 (18*/450mm). We purchased the set up from My partners friend who breeds dragons and we trusted his recommendations i hope we have it right 😞 I feel so sad and we love him so much i just want him to get better! Norbert is a very fussy eater and every time we have tried loose insects he doesn’t eat them but he does have worms and he likes some greens but he isnt eating at the moment, we do put food in for him every 2 days but he doesnt show any interest 😞

The temp sounds good, maybe bump it up to 105 basking since he's not well. What is the temp. in your house day + night ? You need an actual basing bulb like a exo terra intense bulb or one of the others but NO colored ones like blue or red. A flood bulb is probably the best by either exo terra or Zoo med. The CHE only if it gets below 68 at night. Your t8 uvb might need replaced since it's recommended every 6 months. How far is he from it ?

Hi, sorry for the delay, we have been poorly!
We will bump up the temperature! Normally between 16/20 degrees celius. Okay could you recommend a basking light and where to put it? We were told that the black light was basking 😞 would we still keep black heat lamp in? We are uk so any uk site! We will also replace the t8! He is usually underneath the lights most of the day

Sorry to hear that your family has been sick ! Yes you do need a real basking/heat bulb to be on 12-13 hours a day. I don't know a single breeder or owner that just uses a dark CHE rather than a real basking light. Are you in the U.K ? You can go with a Zoo Med or Exo Terra Intense basking bulb, probably 100 watt. It should be more to one side rather than right in the middle but should overlap with the uvb bulb.
How is Norbert, have you tried the raw honey for his eyes ? Or get some antibiotic eye drops from a reptile vet.

a poem by AHBD (THANK YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE IT!)

Sir Henry the dragon
Looking for his dragon girl
Ventures out in to the wide world
His hopes are up but as you can see
There is no dragon girl for Sir Henry
A light bulb goes off and he takes mom aside
Could you perchance get me a mail order bride ?

Hey! We’re the same age! That’s cool!
Hi there a little update we went from a 50 watt heat lamp to a 100 watt basking halogen heat lamp hahaha I saw some comments about it being so close so I made sure to put it a ruler away from her
Has anyone seen this before? Something in the corner of his mouth
