My little baby J-roc is starting to shed... which means he is growing! He is currently in a 30 gallon tank which I know will only fit him for sometime.
-when should I upgrade to a larger sized tank?
-Does anyone know what type of morph he could be? (he has clear nails indicating hypo but his colors look really cool right now too, maybe indicating a citrus or yellow morph?)
- By his size... approx. 3.5 inches how old do you think he is?
30g should be OK for a few more months but you can upgrade as soon as you want. He'll use the extra room. If you're saving up for a new tank and lighting, you probably have 6 months but it depends on how quickly he grows. He will need room to move around and turn in the enclosure and to be able to regulate temperature easily. I'm not sure about the morph but his head is still pretty round so I'd guess he's still only a few months old at most.
I agree with Cooper Dragon, upgrading to a larger tank whenever you want is fine, and you have about half a year. I changed to a larger one when my beardie was about 8-10 inches probably give or take. However, if you are concerned that he'll be stressed in his new, bigger cage, as a baby you can put in a cardboard divider to section off the cage and slowly move it to help him adjust, or just take it out when he's ready. He's a very cute little one, hope this helps!
