Question!!

Hello, I am new to this website. I'm not sure if I am under the right thing, so I apologize if I am not. Anyways.. I get a bearded dragon back in December, and a few days ago everyone's noticed she was limping a little. We took her to the vet (we thought it was gout at first, because swelling. We are new to this whole stuff, so please give tips if you can even if it's just common stuff, anything helps!) And they said she probably has metabolic bone disease. He suggested we buy liquid calcium. So we did, and I don't really understand the instructions. She doesn't really go up to her water bowl to drink water, when we soak her she drinks water though. How do I use the liquid calcium? Do I mix it with her soaking water, or do I just put it in her water bowl even though she doesn't drink out of it from what I see at least. Or do I spray it on her food? It says put in water, I'm just a little confused. Please be nice, I am trying my best to learn new things about them, but this is something I have not learned to do yet, so any help is needed. thank you!! (Sorry this was so long) have a nice day everyone!!

(Also she is a juvenile beardie)

Welcome to the forum. Don't be afraid to ask about anything at all, you'll get no judgment here. We all love beardies and want to help folks learn the best husbandry possible 😀
Please go over your lighting setup. Mbd starts with bad lighting and low/no calcium.
Mix a drop or two of the liquid calcium in water and use an eyedropper to drip it on her snout. I would add in a little tart cherry juice also. It will flavor the water and it helps with gout. Be sure to use a wet cloth to wipe away any that runs into her scales. The sugar from the juice could cause bacteria or fungus in the scales if left there.
If you can post up some pictures of your habitat especially the lighting, and of your beardie and we can try to help you get everything on par. 😀

Thank you! We are currently setting up a new cage for her, so I can't at the moment. And do I still give her the black cherry juice, she does not have gout. That's what we thought it was, until we brought her to the vet. Thank you for being so welcoming!!

If she doesn't have gout it isn't necessary, it or any none citrus juice can be used in small amounts to flavor water though if she doesn't drink from the dropper readily

Hey its me again, sorry to bother. But my lizard doesn't really drink out of her water bowl. So should I put the liquid calcium in her soaking water, cause that is the time she drinks a lot. Or should I take a syringe and let her drink a little out of that.. the bottle says I could but I am just worried, and I'm not sure what to do.

It would take a lot in a soak to make it worthwhile, you'd be wasting a lot of calcium that way. I'd just give it her in the syringe. 🙂

a poem by AHBD (THANK YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE IT!)

Sir Henry the dragon
Looking for his dragon girl
Ventures out in to the wide world
His hopes are up but as you can see
There is no dragon girl for Sir Henry
A light bulb goes off and he takes mom aside
Could you perchance get me a mail order bride ?
