I have a 3 year old bearded dragon named Zilla and we live in Colorado were the humidity seems very suitable. I am moving to Florida however for the summer and I am not sure if it would be good for Zilla to move him to such a high humidity climate. I would prefer to take him with me but I do not want him to get sick. Please let me know your feed back on whether or not to take him along or ideas to make the higher humidity work out.
Thank you!
There are many people that live in the South including myself that have bearded dragons. The main thing to worry about is the humidity in the enclosure and I've never had a problem with it so I think it would b just fine..
Living in Florida I am sure you will have A/C in the house? Otherwise I imagine you would ROAST lol
With A/C running in the house, it will keep humidity down. I am in texas and humidity never gets more than 35% in the viv. (measured from digital thermometer)
I live in Florida and yes, the humidity here is quite extreme. As the above poster mentioned... if you have A/C, then no problems. My A/C stays cranked all summer long and I have never had a problem with the humidity in the tanks in 7 yrs of having beardies.
I say, take Zilla with you and let him enjoy some FL sunshine. I know mine do!
Oh, yeah - definitely agree with the above. The humidity is killer, but you can't go wrong with dragon + Southern summer heat! (While everyone else slowly bakes... ) The highest I've seen the humidity get in the viv here is 42%, and that was one of our nicer days recently, when I turned the A/C off and opened the windows. Usually, it's 38-40%.
