So my beardie Reaper is alittle over a yr old. He is 22 inches tip to tip, and weighs 430g. he has a great tank set-up with a repti-sun 10.0 bulb and a heat bulb at a constent temp of 103 ( he wont bask at 105-110) their are areas in my tank that he can get to that are around 105 but he chooses to not go there. He has tile as substrate that i keep clean. ( cant stand the smell of beardie poo, so i wipe it out as soon as he poops.) anyways he eats dubia roaches and greens daily and gets rep cal calcium with/d 3 times a week and rep-cal multi twice a week. I believe im doing everything right but i noticed today that he has some discoloring around his nose, mouth and eye. he also seems to once a week or so need the corner of his mouth wiped off because he gets like a sticky gunk built up. he acts normal, realy active and fun, but the discoloring is bothering me. here are some pics to help
Well, the paler section on his head looks like skin/scales that haven't shed off quite yet. My beardie had some of that left after he shed, it stays on for quite a while (i guess its cause they cant really reach their heads...). Try lightly scratching at it with you finger nail and see if it flakes off at all.
see i thought it was from shedding too, but he hasnt shed in quit a while. He was fine and looked normal, and then i woke up and he had that pale color on his head and around his nose and mouth
It shed, though don't pick it it, peeling it off better it is ready to come off can cause damage to the scales. Just leave it alone and it will come off naturally. As for the stuff coming out of his mouth, i'm not sure what could be causing it maybe something with his teeth.
