It has been known to survive & be stable in higher temperatures like under 100F for a week or so. At room temperature a few weeks & if colder possibly a few months. Most of the time unless directly ingested they can't pick it up that way. All you need to do is spray bleach or diluted bleach onto the area & let it sit a minute or two & it will kill it.
