Hi everyone about a month ago i rescued another BD. (that makes 2 now ) My question is that he has been eating and getting veggies but hasn't gained any weight. He was very skinny when i got him and not taken care of very well. since then he looks a little fatter but not as fat as i would like. is there anything i can do to help him get up to a healthier weight?
Ryu is a great looking dragon! I think overall he looks very good. It takes them time to fill out at that age, since they are growing in length. How old is he?
He is a leatherback also, correct?
What types of food do you feed him & how often do you feed him?
You can add some squash varieties for him as that has some starch & can help with weight gain.
They all grow at various rates too & will continue to grow & fill out well into their 2nd year.
He is approximately 8 months old. I'm not sure on his morphs :/ he was a rescue so when I picked him up I didn't ask many questions I just wanted to get him out of there he eats super worms twice a day and gets a regular salad of collard greens and either carrot or apples
Well, at least he is out of the bad situation now. Sometimes it takes time to catch up with weight gain when they have been deprived of food like that.
I think eventually he will catch up. Just continue to give him good quality food & greens, along with some added squash for some extra calories.
He is a handsome dragon!
Hi. Your beaded dragon is very healthy looking. But if you feel it needs to be a little more tubby then I have some ideas for you to try. The first one is give him what he likes. For example one of my beardies loves phoenix worms and dubia roaches. My bearded dragon went through the same thing where he wasn't gaining enough weight. These were the foods I turned too. If your beardie likes a food, let him eat as much as he wants . Something that might also help is oxbow critical care wich gives the beardie more nutrition to gain weight and be more healthy. 8) Make sure you are giving your bearded dragon a weekly bath to help digestion.
