Hi there,

So after a lot of grief and overwhelming behavior weirdness, finally got my beardie to the vet and she was diagnosed with pinworms and coccidia. She has been prescribed Ponazuril and Panacur to help treat with two doses of each. I’ve been reading about giving beardies probiotic while they’re taking meds for treatment and wondering what is the best to give with that combo of meds? So far I’m leaning towards giving her soy yogurt, but wanted to get opinions first. She’s been pretty grumpy since we got home from the vet yesterday. Thanks!

Hi Daniel,

Have you read through this yet?

It’s an article written by one of our past moderators (RIP). I’m not sure if it the most current on details, but still fairly relevant.

Also, I know that @CooperDragon has suggested Reptophilus or non-dairy yogurt as well.

From what I've read, those meds tend not to be too harsh on them, so probiotics probably aren't necessary. It doesn't hurt to offer them though. The soy yogurt should do the trick. I tend to avoid bene-bac because one of the strains in it (Enterococcus faecium) can be harmful to humans if ingested (thorough hand washing mitigates the risk well enough).

Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
Taking my beardie for a walk
Hi everyone, I have a question please. I have a thick branch I got from outside. It has been in freezing temperatures so I know that it is insect free. I took it off the ground and sat it up during a night we got down to 15 so the entire thing would freeze. Well tonight I put white vinegar all over it too cleanse it since it won't fit in my oven. Do I need to rinse with water tomorrow or is it fine left alone dried?
