Powersun 100W question

Hello,

I just got a powersun 100w for my sons baby bearded dragon. I set it up with the zoomed lamp stand and it is currently 12" from his basking spot. My problem is the temp on his basking spot is only at 94.2 and It doesn't seem to be getting any higher. Do I have to get another heat source because I cant move the powersun any closer? Thanks.

Hi,
I had the same problem with my 100 watt powersun! What I did though was just take a 100 watt household bulb and get a clamp and put it there. If tjat doesnt work then you can try heat bulbs, just play with different wattages til you find one.

Ok, so I can just put a regular light bulb in one of the other fixtures I have and put it right next to my powersun fixture? Will that be too much light for him? Thanks so much for the advice, I was so worried that the powersun would be too hot for him but never thought it would not be hot enough.

you will probably need to get a dimmer to adjust the output for the incandescent bulb, i have a 100w powersun and a 75 watt halogen spot lamp and i have to keep the halogen at about 3/4 on my dimmer to reach 100-105F but my powersun is more like 16" from the basking spot

You can just put it in a fixture right next to the powersun, and you can get a dimmer, but I dont have one because my beardies cage is in a room thats kinda dark, so it doesnt need a dimmer.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. I will do that as soon as I get home. Will he be ok in the 94.2 temp until I get out of work? I don't want him to get sick from being cold.

No problem, and those temps are fine for now, its not like he will freeze to death, just get another bulb as soon as you can Just make sure you get the temps around 100-105ish F
